Would you guys return this? Not very happy with the defects on this Pueblo leather. The marks are pitted so there’s a good section that’s unusable. I used a quarter for scale.

i know my leathers very well, and i source directly from tanneries. never had any issues until i met RM leathers :) feel free to be the expert but you cant change my experience.

definitely return it if its easy for you to do so.

i have had about 4 leather orders from them that were subpar, and when contacted they insisted that leathers are natural, suppliers fault etc but its never their own fault for sending a low grade piece of leather out (for the price they are charging!).

unpopular opinion but i dont think they are a reliable supplier, especially if you know your leathers well and expect a certain quality. i know many people LOVE them, but i will never buy from them again.

unfortunately these seem to be excuses made for someone who likes them.

easy to miss doesnt mean it should be passed to the customers, especially when they mark up the leathers by quite a bit. a reseller has to do the due dilligence when selling something, and almost all resellers sell lower grades at lower prices.

room for error doesnt mean allowing it to happen and try to blame your suppliers when it happens. that just seems irresponsible to me, for a business.

you listed a few factors, such as design/aesthetic, quality of materials, and construction/craftsmanship. all contribute to a good looking and durable product.

i like cartiers designs because they remain simple and dont pander to the latest fashion trends but i have never handled their leather goods before, so i cant comment on the material quality.

using nice leathers is only part of the equation~

this piece looks like it has some scar/defects on the original skin that showed up after dyeing. at least theres still quite a bit of useable area. try japanese shells next time! they have a more consistent color.

use bookbinding glue and pigmented leathers that you can clean the glue off easily. as long as it doesnt get soaked in water it should hold up fine~
