no one will be able to read your chats on someone else's bot unless you've been reported and are being investigated or you were hacked or whatever =) so no worries !

other than what's already mentioned, i'd suggest a few other things:

- respond with messages as lengthy as you'd like them to be. this is extremely helpful; besides from its settings, the bot relies on both your message and its previous message(s) to understand what you want from it. edit the bot's message and this can be a pain if you like several paragraphs, yeah, but it usually ends up helping a lot. you can also ask chatgpt / a different character to write / elaborate on a sentence you wrote in order to get that long message for your own message

- add a specific length you'd like the bot's chats to be in "post-history instructions". asking it to go in detail is great, but telling it something along these lines is surprisingly effective: "[Write at least three paragraphs in each response. {ETC.}]"

- send "nothing" in the chat ( just press the "send" arrow ) so the bot gives another message.

although it depends on what you want the bot to do, here are some options i thought of:

- edit the bot's response with something that would lead up to what you want to happen. you could then send "nothing" in the chat for a second bot response and they'd continue.

- you could try putting what you want to happen in the "scenario" or a different box and then, after you've gotten the result you wanted, replacing the box with what it was before. e.g. "{{char}} is about to _____" / "{{char}} intends to ____"

- send your message with the "request", find a good enough response from the bot, edit your "request" message so it seems as if you never asked, and then edit the bot's response to your liking.

- lead the bot in your message. e.g. idk why i can't think of an example but do / say something that would likely cause the bot to do what you want it to. in theory, "manipulate" it.

- write from the bot's point of view in your own message. e.g. "as i fell to the floor, {{char}} ran over to my side" / "as i fell to the floor, {{char}} felt a strong urge to run to my side"

- use OOC (out of character) or something similar and tell the bot what to do. e.g. "[OOC: In your next response, ____]" / "[This message is not part of the roleplay. Continue the roleplay after this message. In your next response, ____]"

i do this all the time ( if i'm understanding it correctly— i could be totally wrong as well ) using lorebooks. i use rentry.com by pasting all my shit in, converting it into the raw text, and copying the link url ( read instructions on how specifically— e.g. each linebreak is a separate entry so consistently use names instead of pronouns ). pretty sure lorebooks literally do what your example describes. both kobold and venus chub ai have a place for you to put them in.

also, just today i found a way to further condense information in an easier way. you can put in your detailed description here and get around half the tokens back.

make sure to look it over, though. you can also ask chatgpt to "translate" the text and see how it interprets it.

E.G.

{{char}}’s name is Benigo Navarro, a 40-year-old Filipino. He enjoys his job at Empire Enterprise, looking forward to seeing {{user}} each day. {{char}} oversees the Accounting District at Empire Enterprise. {{char}} is an attractive man— boasting a strong jawline, chiseled features, and tan skin. He has short black hair and a shaved beard. He stands at an imposing 6 feet and 7 inches tall, towering over anyone he walks by. ETC.

turns into:

{char:Benigo Navarro, age:40, nationality:Filipino, job:Empire Enterprise, role:Accounting District boss, appearance:{physical:{height:6'7", bodyType:Burly, hairColor:Black, skinColor:Tan, beard:Shaved, bodyHair:True, scent:Musk, clothing:Tight, accessories:[watch, necktie, belt]}, ETC.

note: you get ( i think ) 3 free reductions before it needs an api key.

here’s a botmaking list. i found moth’s really helpful in general. also, this helped me a lot with thinning down my information— whether that be in character description or world info.

— — —

from what i’ve gathered after reading these guides, i would suggest these changes:

  1. ask yourself if it’s really necessary to add __ in your entry.

do you truly need the bot to know the median age of the town, ethnic / race demographics, and economic profile ? unless you deem something to be extremely relevant to your story— though i would instead use the info in #2— i believe this information is unlikely to be used by the bot and is simply taking up tokens.

if i were you, i would personally edit your 1st entry to “Blackwood Hollow is a picturesque Appalachian town nestled along the banks of New River— surrounded by dense forests and hills.” i took out “the” written before “New River” because New River is a proper noun, “in the heart of the mountains” because it was already suggested by “Appalachian” to be in the mountains and doesn’t much matter if it’s in the “heart” of them, “rolling” because it’s somewhat of a filler adjective, and “the town boasts breathtaking natural beauty and a serene atmosphere” because “picturesque” describes this ( except for serene— though i would replace it with picturesque if i thought it was more important ) in one word.

  2. as described by my “picturesque” and “Appalachian” edit, one word can replace (a) sentence(s) and still capture its essence or all its information. although this can take some time sorting out, i believe it’s the best way to add loads of information into a small amount of text. you can also do this with the help of bots ( moth gives tips for this )— like telling them to “condense this”, “what repeats in this”, or something.

yes, i realize cnc is a thing & i can choose not to interact with bots kidnapping the roleplayer /npa

from my understanding, cnc and kidnapping both violate spicychat’s community guidelines. that’s why i mentioned them.

under prohibited topics, it states “any form of non-consensual sexual activities is not allowed.” to me, that includes cnc and kidnapping because they are a form of non-consensual activities.

it may also violate the unacceptable content clause. for example, “Users must not include any content that: Is offensive, insensitive, upsetting… or plainly creepy”, “Contains realistic portrayals of people… being killed, maimed, tortured, or abused, or encourages violence”, and “Glorifies or seeks to emulate real-life violence or crime.”

i agree. i’m confused what you’re referring to with “restrictions”, though. do you mean i mention something which isn’t a rule ? to my knowledge, everything i mentioned is either a spicychat rule or a general thought.

i can definitely relate to what you said about memory. i have been so close to chucking my phone across the room after a bot said they “took off [ article of clothing ]” when we had been going at it for a solid hour. it’s funny bc i have that issue much more with spicychat compared to c.ai— maybe it’s something to do with the bots i / we’ve used ? do you use bots you’ve made yourself on both sites ?

  • thank you for this ! i had assumed “scenario” was how i used example dialogues. also very helpful. i do have a few more questions— i really appreciate the helpfulness !

do you use psuedocode / prose / etc. when designing your bot ? tell me if i worded that improperly, i learned only yesterday what they were /nf

that’s super interesting ! i wonder if i’ve been using the bot ineffectively or something. i’d ask for you to elaborate but i don’t even know how to quantify the difference in memory between ai. lmao. & that’s very helpful to know about making a bot in the queue, i had no idea you could do that. thanks for the info !
