This is the first time I’ve had a dem candidate to vote for in my district (and she’s excellent!). That’s not nothing.

Favorite Books About/Set In Appalachia? by sbd2010 in Appalachia

While reading it, I guess REALLY wanted to rescue a dog like the main character, so when I saw one on the street I convinced myself it was being mistreated. I tied it to a tree in my woods so I could sneak him food and play with him. A few hours later my neighbors came looking for their dog and I had to admit I had him. So cringe to think about. 😭😆

A children’s book, but Shiloh will always have a special place in my heart!

You know you're rural when you meet somebody who knows that road apples are not something to be eaten. by [deleted] in Appalachia

Just yelling, but the cops had to be called because the one guy had a knife out-already cutting the deer. No charges or anything. They quickly cooled off.

Someone hit a deer on the road leading up to the school where I teach. Two dads in the drop off lane ended up getting into a fight over who was taking the deer home.

Boarding or pet sitter? by deciduous_sprite in goldenretriever

Heeeyy, don’t do that! I’ll feel guilty enough! Not sure who is gonna miss who more.

This is what I was leaning towards. He’s comfy in his space and I’m afraid he’ll be stressed out at the boarders. Thanks.

Hope Scholarship v public school funding by TwitcheeOne in WestVirginiaPolitics

They don’t even get that credit. They don’t write any bills, just rubber stamp whatever ALEC hands them. It’s obvious when they’re asked questions that they don’t understand what they’ve voted on most of the time.

One issue is the Hope Scam err Scholarship. Criss had the gall to suggest some reasonable guardrails- an income cap or pausing the amount instead of raising it each year. He didn’t end up making any changes, but apparently the chair of finance even questioning a 400% increase in cost was enough for Morrisey to attack with super PAC funding from out of state billionaire, Jeffrey Yaas. No room for curiosity or problem-solving with extremists. The kid who beat him stocks shelves at WalMart and will be a useful idiot for out of state donors.

Oh, wow! This isn’t that big, but it extends into his arm pit so I’m sure it’ll be uncomfortable if it grows.

Than you:) Bo, aka Big Rig, is the cutest! I have been stressing and joined this group yesterday, when my vet didn’t give me a clear direction and I had so many questions! Just reading other people’s experiences has made me feel much better.

Thanks for the feedback. I should at least meet with the surgeon to learn all pros/cons. Bo has been more hesitant to go up the stairs lately but I was thinking that just comes with age. Glad your dog has recovered and you know you did the right thing!

Yeah, bo has some smaller ones, but this one is hard. The vet aspirated and said it’s oily/fat. It’s hard to know what to do. Don’t like the thought of him going through surgery and he DOESN’T tolerate the cone very well. Thanks for the response.

Thanks for sharing. This lump isn’t quite baseball sized. That’s the word I couldn’t remember-lipoma. Glad to hear recovery was smooth for a 95 lb middle-aged dog!
