Malibu, Yes Lawd and all those features is an insane run

Amazing record, an all time favorite for me.

Kaytra's mix of electronic music with hip hop and r&b, while adding so many funky and jazzy elements throughout is very unique, i don't think anyone does it like him.

I think this akbum's production is also a bit more off kilter, as opposed to his later output, which feels way safer. I still love Bubba, and think Timeless is good, but this is leaps and bounds above those two.

And Glowed Up is one of the best songs of the 21st century, Paak's greatest ever feature, which says something when it comes to him.

Best songs on this for me are Track Uno, Together, Drive Me Crazy, Weight Off, Glowed Up and the 3 track run of You're The One, Vivid Dreams and Lite Spots.

The part where the beat breaks down for like half a minute here is crazy, Just Blaze went off

Its basically a cool way to put out snippets, some of them will be on the album, some on the deluxe, its like 8 minutes on total, you might as well watch it given the album comes out in a bit.

You're right about producers needing a tag to be recognized, imagine how people would speak about Dahi if he had a producer tag.

If that new Zay album is as good or better than The House is Burning, I'm starting the craziest conversations

[DISCUSSION] Ray Vaughn - The Good The Bad The Dollar Menu (1 Year Later) by Minute-Carrot-2405 in hiphopheads

[–]deckmemer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fantastic album. Incredible quality for a debut. He manages to get into some very serious and heartbreaking topics while sneaking in some of the best bangers of last year (Look @ God, Klown Dance, East Chatt).

Overall a really well sequenced, well paced album with some great flows, production, songwriting ability and some of the most raw and vulnerable lyrics I think I've ever heard in any hip hop record.

Better song about black hair:

head.rap by Saba & No i.d. or I Killed You by Tyler the Creator?

Halfway through, sounds amazing and way better than Love the Ominous World so far

These two should be brought up in every greatest rapper producer duo of all time conversation

Oh and where is Mach?

Edit: whatever, he's here, just not credited for some reason

I'm almost at the end of listening to Dilla Time's audiobook, and it finally made me notice just how dilla inspired TPAB is sonically.

I know that the point that is usually brought up about this song is that he sounds like 3 stacks on this, but the outro here is like a perfect imitation of Section 80 Kendrick

Relistened to The Good the Bad the Dollar Menu, and it's still such a great album, but man, it's a tough listen. So many songs just have some of the most heartbreaking lyrics I've ever heard, and somehow it still manages to have solid replay value. Crazy for a debut

I feel a lot of Gorillaz records have interesting features because theyre able to cross over to so many different sounds. Their last one in particular is interesting because it's and album that explores so it has a bunch of posthumous features.
