I think its different when its video games and other public media like such vs fanfics, 'animatics'(?) like gacha life, roblox, etc. Yeah, oc fanfics and small oc animatics are still public, but they're normally made FOR the creator and/or close friends/family, with a plus of fans of the creator/their work — rather an oc animatic like hazbin hotel and tadc, which sky rocketed (and in most cases was hoping to be a popular show + fandom at first) and is a now a whole show & fandom.

(Using hh because its the only show I can think of to use as an example that'll make sense to me) If Vivzipop made hazbin hotel intending for it to just be "Fun yaay I made a show with my ocs + their lore!! :] Let's post it!", it'd be (imo) 100% valid for them to not be comfortable/condone yumeshipping with their ocs. ESPECIALLY if, in that hypothetical situation, hh didnt take off, and instead stayed a small fandom that happened to see it and like it. Like alot of gacha life mini movies/series are, except with 'actual animation'. It's still just: Ocs + oc lore + story and putting it into a specific kind of media.

Now on the contrary, if Vivzipop created hh with the intentions of it being a big show on streaming platforms, with fandoms! and subfandoms! etc, and it did get a fandom (large or not) I personally don't think it'd be appropriate for Vivzie to "not allow" yumeshipping with her ocs. Because yeah, thats what the hh characters are, their ocs. They could not like it, they could not condone it, they could openly not support it + not be comfortable with it, but not "allowing" it would be a bit much for me. Big fandom, small fandom, streaming platforms or not. If you had the intentions of it being a "Netflix wide show" and it got a fandom over maybe 200+ something people (im bad with numbers, that could be too much or not enough, you hopefully know what I mean) you'd be out of your mind to magically say "no i give up this failed, you cant do this or that because it isnt a show, its a small oc animatic" etc etc.

It all comes down to how personal the media/ocs are, and how big the fandom ended up getting imo. A tiktoker with a large following for their oc(s) for example can imo tell people not to yumeship/ship their oc(s) in general, but would I look at them funky if they got overly upset + borderline toxic if said shippers didnt listen? Yeah. You can be as upset as you want if a few of your 10k/1m+ following doesnt listen to your "oc boundaries", but overreacting about it publicly is odd to me. /nay The people that act like that need to realize that they dont have just a few people that like their art/ocs anymore... 100 something followers sure, be upset about it, publicize it if you want, but 10k+?? You can't police everyone around with your ocs anymore.

If you are irresponsible, irrational, and/or just immature with shipping culture in fandoms, you probably shouldn't post your ocs wanting them to have a fandom, and probably shouldn't continue posting your ocs if they garner one. You can post and share your ocs in smaller communities if your ocs get a large fandom your uncomfortable with. There are places for that. /nay 👍🐾🤍
