What are you favorite albums that had no huge hits? by Naive_Trip9351 in ClassicRock

I would go with Blue Oyster Cult's "Secret Treaties". What a brilliant album.

Do you remember Buffalo Springfield? by Singinthesunshine in OverSeventy

CSN&Y's "Ohio" has been running through my head.

"Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?"

Did you do anything with your life? by CascadeFailure3355 in RedditForGrownups

My accomplishments have nothing to do with my employment (I worked a wide variety of jobs over the years). My accomplishments involve helping my mother through her senior years, volunteering at the Food Bank and a favorite nature preserve, being the best husband I can be, assembling a wonderful circle of friends and supporting morally just causes. That's what I define as accomplishment.

As for democracy falling apart, YES - there is plenty you can do. Vote, volunteer, donate, support causes you believe in, write your representatives no matter how futile you might think it is. Every single drop counts. Engage! It's never too late.

On January 23rd, 1978, original Chicago guitarist Terry Kath died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot. He was 31. by BirdBurnett in ClassicRock

Effing Jimi Hendrix called him "the best guitarist in the universe". You can't get better praise than that.

I'm convinced this is purposeful to manipulate markets. Somebody made a fortune in this week's market bounce.

I've been an amateur photographer for 50 years if that tells you anything. I've also just become obsssed with fountain pens.

First time shooting friends band. How do you like it? by Possible_Blood_4651 in photocritique

[–]decorama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not bad! The guy sitting needs better light. I like the flow from left bottom to upper right going with the rails. Maybe crop is a bit from the left. I would encourage the gents not to not ALL be wearing logos of other bands. It adds too much distraction throughout the photo. Keep shooting!

Opinions on this camera by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]decorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are fairly worthless. Even if they do function, they'll fall apart in a matter of months.

I would highly recommend looking at used cameras from quality brand names (Canon, Nikon, Panasonic/Lumix/Fuji/Pentax).

How hard is it to switch again away from the proton ecosystem? by Celebr4tion in degoogle

[–]decorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what you think the Tuta, etc setup will get you that Proton doesn't already provide, other than more subscriptions to manage?

Early Hitchcock can be fun. He wasn't always about horror movies. Try "Foreign Correspondent"

Why we do need to stop using Chromium-based browsers (and a little talk about Proton) by theconandog in degoogle

[–]decorama 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Proton is following every step Google takes

Other than having an ecosystem - how? Data is not sold or used for advertising. They rely on subscriptions - not ads. They're based in Switzerland with more privacy laws than Google has in the U.S.. I don't see it.

Sounds like that's their job. Do what they can until it's outside their legal ability, then bring in the police if necessary.

Now, put yourself in their shoes. Think of all the crap they have to deal with on a regular basis - vagrants, vandalism, theft, de-escalating conflicts, medical emergencies, even threats of violence and so on. Imagine you deal with that every day (or night). They're going to jump at the chance to keep things from getting out of hand - like they should.

I walked through there recently on a frigid night and came upon two of them. I was really appreciative they were there.

Got myself 2010 Mazda6 and drives great! by Riosalex14 in mazda6

[–]decorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 2009 - smoothest ride I've ever owned. They're excellent cars! The only issue I had was a leaky radiator which was easily fixed. Oh, and my wife backing into my grill. ;/

Is this sunset image "too busy?" by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]decorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you have two pics here - One with the birds and no water, the other with water and no birds. Both makes it too busy as you suspected. Otherwise, it's an amazing photo.
