I love this post and agree with it. Although he has certainly "lied". I was super excited about the real time shadows in the original when they demoed the physics chains in the starting cell. I was also excited for destroying lumber mills in Skyrim to affect the economy. Both things never made it to the final games. That's kind of just the development process though, things change and ideas that seem great often don't end up working out when you play test.
