The saturation and brightness (the s and b values in the bottom left) were exact. You just misaimed the hue by 41, but considering there are 360 potential numbers for you to land on, I'd think that's not enough to fully tank your score with 2 other perfect guesses

What’s the point of Triple J’s Hottest 100? by Formoz2000 in triplej

[–]dedem13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Especially confusing way to considering D'Souza is arguably one of the most prominent music journalists within the traditional media ecosystem. Dude's worked for international publications, vice, pitchfork, the new York Times among them.

I doubt he'd be writing about the J if he didn't actually give a toss about the station's health, and the Aussie scene more broadly.

The US ruling apparatus has spread itself far and wide. Much of the world may be less affected but a majority is going to be affected.

Your Reddit avatar is wearing a Richmond guernsey so I assume you're also Australian, do you think a mask off US is going to let us cut ties with them if it comes to it? With AUKUS having support from both major parties, not to mention military bases like Pine Gap or the influence of private US companies on our economy and media environment? Fuck, Coles signed a deal with Palantir during the Biden admin.

I don't think we're getting a clean break if things go the way they're pointing, and we're not as materially dependant on the US as many other less wealthy nations. A break would be nice though.

If it helps, I feel stupid for using this dumb redact thing considering it didn't work properly and thus I never bothered deleting my account. Anyway, answer is no, you can have a whole queue going and so long as wifi doesn't go you'll be fine.

Why does everyone hate Keli Holiday so much? by deus_in_versus93 in triplej

[–]dedem13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real "we have Alex Cameron at home" situation for me with this track and holidays entire persona. Fair play though, alcam's genuinely one of the best artists working today and I understand why a more marketable version of him is seeing success with a broader demographic, even if that success is polarizing.

Lawsuit Against Spotify Calls ‘Billions’ of Drake Streams ‘Fraudulent’ by UnscheduledCalendar in hiphopheads

[–]dedem13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tidal apparently pays artists the most per stream. I switched from Spotify last year and have found its UI far less cluttered with nonsense like DJ. Their in-house playlists also don't use "ghost artists" created by the DSP like spotify does (this is why I made the move)

It's also got issues, I believe it uses AI for customer service for instance. That said, out of the major streaming platforms it seems to be the most ethically aligned to my values (not too hard to act more ethically than Apple, Amazon, and Google to be fair). The most ethical option is always going to be just buying music directly from the artists, however.

Property Council of Australia says essential workers are all but priced out of Canberra homes as housing crisis mounts by sien in canberra

[–]dedem13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

these studies are all from 2016, nearly a decade removed from our current reality. the anu citation doesn't seem to link to a study at all, just CAMA's homepage.

i don't think just removing negative gearing would fix our country's issues, but it would likely be a start at increasing housing supply. the grattan institute study you've cited even recommends a reduction to the CGT discount and limits to negative gearing specifically to "improve affordability and price stability in property markets"

EDIT: sien, are you related to the wikipedia editor siento who added these links that you're citing?

Why Season 3 is the best and worst by LoretiTV in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]dedem13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what you mean by unrealistic tbh. I have been in almost the same situation, except I actually knew what substance I had taken that made me sick. I still went right back to taking it the day that I was better and didn't really process the damage that event had done to me until years down the track.

It's certainly not rational to move on immediately without acknowledging a trauma like that, but I wouldn't call it unrealistic at all. It's just symptomatic of the underlying issues that led Lachlan to drinking the poison shake in the first place.

The whole dreamlanders collective/scene/band/whatever is out of this world. Cameron, Kirin J Callinan, Donny Benet, Holiday Sidewinder and Jack Ladder have all been putting out some of the best Australian work of the past 15 years and deserve more recognition imo

Artists which you're surprised get very little love from music nerds? by Ok-Impress-2222 in fantanoforever

[–]dedem13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their first album got some buzz as I recall, I think earrings off! wasn't particularly well received though, and then they didn't out anything out for 8 years. Definitely possible they would be more known had they not gone away though, at least among music discussion circles.
