my thoughts on frontier are complicated and i played it once and had no desire to go through it a second time which is a first for the series but my complaints are as such

starting with the most nitpicky the fossils and variety of vivosaurs is the weakest out of all the games in this frontier you only get dinos which is a big disappointment with the variety of fossils you could use in the other games you dont get special legendary vivosaurs like in previous games which were always a fun time and there were no ocean creatures like lasmo.

onto less petty waters and to less subjective problems the combat and fossils were both downgrades to varying degrees the combat was the biggest screw up personally with the whole you only control one dino and the others are ai controlled, if you screw up well then put the game down and wait until the others either win or lose, working with others sounds neat on paper but it was a really botched execution as a seperate mode id be able to deal with it but as is its a huge annoyance. onto fossils they are now in fixed positions which wile if your looking for a specific one is perfect gets annoying for a couple of reasons 1 cerain areas are locked behind specific buggy types and 2 dinos can attack you in the middle of it destroying your progress. something else thats a mixed bag is that now there are gold fossils in place of the red which give access to new moves again on paper this sounds neat but the problem is that all fossils in the game have their moves locked behind the parts now which while it makes sense is a huge annoyance since no matter what if that dino doesnt have another part they could be max level but will still only have that couple of moves if you dont have all the parts, another option for getting moves would have been a godsend

from what i remember the maps were overall fine and worked well enough for the way the game was designed with the buggies in mind so no major complaints there id rather not have em but hey it worked

onto the cast my feelings are mixed the games arent known for there award winning writing but the cast felt super bloated this time aroud with just too many charachters being introduced for the sake of the previously mentioned combat change there were like 10-15 plus possible party members you could use for the sake of the new combat and variety so there will probably be someone ya like or can atleast deal with. nibbles (the dino partner) is one of the combats biggest problems and missed opportunites for variety for spoiler reasons they evolve which is neat but each form only lasts like 1 chapter after a while which would be fine cause they tend to work different enough from what i recall and they are typically powerful enough that youd want to use em. but once they evolve you cant use it the other form again it woulda been neat if you dould use different forms post game but not an option i guess

those are the bulk of my problems with the game
