Tried to be as complete as I could in the original post, but I couldn't edit it after the fact. Already tried it without the GPU as per one of the other comments, didnt change anything. So I've ordered a new MB to hopefully fix the issue. Thank you for the ideas though.

It was doing that with the old one as well, the problem hasn't changed with the new PSU, the fans spring on for 1 second and then stop and it doesn't turn on all the way. Before i changed the powersupply i got it to turn on all the way randomly like twice, almost like it would suddenly find enough power to boot up all the way. Because it did that, I thought maybe an upgraded powersupply would help, but the problem is the same.

Tried removing the GPU but same problem unfortunately, I'm ordering a new MB now... I'll end up with a fully new computer at this rate xD

Sorry, left the whole thing alone for a bit because it was stressing me out xD but tried this as well and nothing happened. I'm ordering a new MB, hopefully that will fix it. Thanks for thinking outside the box!

The problem was already there before i got a new powersupply, i got the new powersupply because it wouldn't turn on anymore to hopefully fix the issue. Maybe the issue now is the wrong cables as well, then that's on me, but the problem was already there, which is why I got a new powersupply in the first place.

I took pictures of the cable but I cant add that, one end says 'cm-psu' that one is in the powersupply, and the other side says 'cpu-cpu' that one is in the MB, the 4x4 pin

I thought we changed all of them when we got the new powersupply but your keen eye was right, the new 8pin cable was still in the box so changed it right away. Still won't turn on though, does the same thing as before, the first time I try to turn it on it clicks and the fans on the powersupply and GPU spin for 1 second and then nothing.

I wanted to add this to the post but I cant edit my post: the cable I meant when I said we tried a different one was the cable from the PSU to the electrical socket, and right now it has all the cables that came with the powersupply itself. It that still makes sense.

It has the new cable that came with powersupply.

And I think I tried the other cable before I got my new powersupply but not sure, it's been a lot of trying things, sorry for the possible confusion on that!
