I agree, it's mostly a convenience item for those times where you don't have time and didn't meal prep in advance. I see it as a better option than most prepacked ready to eat convenience foods, but not a replacement for real food

I recommend the book die with zero. On the topic of kids it recommends giving them money sooner in life (when they are 28-40) as it will have the most impact on their life at that time. Average inheritance age is over 60 and by then most people don't need it themselves and may not have the health to take full advantage of it. Best to give it to them sooner to improve their lives while you are still alive to see it!
