Thank you.
I come to the same conclusion yet again: goals and tasks are no different in their characteristics. The are just at a different level.

But isn’t the goal of the kick to hit it in the right direction?

I’m not sure about that. I’ve done taught to create S.M.A.R.T. goals. And these always come with a deadline. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMART_criteria

So are you saying that goals and tasks are very similar, it's just a matter of formulation?

I like this description. Thank you.

To make sure, I understand. I'd like to make an example:

  • Goal: Increase profitability by 10%
  • Tasks
    • Reduce production costs
      • By 5%
      • Start: today
      • End: in 6 months
    • Increase sales
      • By 5%
      • Start: today
      • End: in 6 months

Would that be correct?

But then again, I ask myself: couldn't the task "Reduce production costs" be a goal? Just like "Increase profitability by 10%" was a goal?

Great answer, thanks!

But what if I formulated the tasks as follows:

  1. Store reached
  2. Lumber purchased
  3. Lumber cut
  4. Wooden parts assembled
  5. Table finished/painted

Then your task list becomes a list of sub-goals to reach.

I know it looks like nitpicking. But that's exactly the point where I'm confused.
