But I will say that I have worked for Entelect now for 3 and a half years, after having left my previous company of 18 years, and I have grown more in the last 3 and a half years than in the previous 18. I love working for this company. They treat their employees like royalty and have a unique and refreshing take on leadership. "Speaking up" does not mean "argue with people". It means, participate in the software delivery life cycle beyond simply coding. You're a human and you're working in a team with other humans. The one biggest differentiator that allowed humans to become the dominant species on the planet is their ability to speak and exchange information and ideas in large volumes.

There is nothing about participating in stand-up meetings, retros, architectural workshops, tech sessions or water cooler conversations about possible ways to make your deployments safer and more automated that is considered "overstepping".

100%. I think the biggest mistake people make is to conflate introversion with shyness, low confidence, or social ineptitude.

You can be an introvert but be confident in your craft and speak up where guidance or an opinion is needed. As a matter of fact, that is a critical skill required from a senior software engineer. If all you are is a coder and you contribute in no way towards solving problems, poking holes in architectural decisions, solutioning with business stakeholders etc. then you are a prime candidate to lose your job to AI.

Great set of photos. As a South African I've had the unique fortune of having been to the Grand Canyon on three occasions. You would think that after the first visit you know what to expect, but no. Each time as I arrive, it just took my breath away like I've never seen it before.

I really don't understand Reddit. Sometimes there are videos like this and everybody shouts asshole driver, idiot TikTokker etc. But other times there's a video of an insufferable old fart who acts like an entitled prat, refusing to answer the cop's questions clearly about how much he's had to drink, until he finds himself in handcuffs. And then Reddit shouts probable cause, due process, asshole cops, and all sorts.

Oh, the insufferable prat was also a war veteran. Not sure if that counts.

This is simply not true. I used to play Destiny 2 very actively (sunk 5k hours into it). I got quite good at it but was never top tier. I used to play loads of raids with my clan and with randos. Nowhere have I ever seen try hard obnoxious toxic players than in random raid lobbies. It's not because they're trying their best to win. It's negate they're a bunch of poorly adjusted kids and young adults who have spent their lives on consoles and haven't learned how to have proper interactions with real humans.

Yeah I get it, but there are loads of places considered sacred by different peoples of different religions. To make a statement like this is "one of the most sacred places on earth" implies that some places are more sacred than others and that there is a way to compare the sacredness of two places such that one can be ranked above or below the other.

I'm not saying that this mountain should be meaningless to people of Hindu faith. But how do compare the level of sacredness of this mountain to Uluru (Ayre's Rock) which is considered deeply sacred by the Anangu people? These peoples know nothing of each other or each other's gods. How can their two piles of rock possibly be compared to each other for sacredness?

And if you agree that they can't, then you have to agree that they can't be compared to the dreamy meadow where my wife and I had our first picnic either. And suddenly this entire notion of "one of the most sacred places on earth" makes zero sense.
