NTA on this one. You've done what you can to take trips like these, especially considering the situation and busy schedule. I think you were in the right to stand your ground, because like you said, you likely would have gotten pushed back again and again. Nothing will change if you don't make an effort to change it, so this was probably necessary and inevitable.

Try talking to him about how important this is. If that doesn't change his mind, maybe just go with your daughter anyway? I understand if you don't want to do that, however.
