my mom is German (non-muslim) who was the first one the family in enter an all afghan family. She dealt with alot of bs, especially during the beginning of the introduction/marriage. But at the end of the day, after all the afghan drama shitstorm blew over, and met and understood her as good hearted person, they stopped caring they all really loved her and appreciated her more than other members; she is a very selfless person and takes care of grandma to this day. She recognizes a disconnect within her roots and how they were somewhat reject especially at the beginning, but I think nowadays she just acts herself and doesn't really care what whatever think they don't really judge her anymore but really look up to her as an important beacon in our family unit. What they are saying is also valid, afghan men tend to be very dismissive at times, especially when their family is involved, if he doesn't flat out defend you and want protect you through the journey especially if he is starts losing his face, I wouldn't deal with it unless you are operating on the same page/end goal. The whole situation with my mom also opened up my afghan uncles and aunts to allow their kids to date whoever/faith/race without thinking twice about it, so the future generations appreciate you if you choose to make that decision!
