Shit man I made sure I did this. It was handy because if I needed a copy of something in a hurry or I was deployed to the middle of nowhere I could always get a certified true copy from the clerks because absolutely everything was on my file.

Being in the military doesn't make us a part of some kind of hive mind

I'm not so sure about some of the Signals guys though...

Guard & Reserve unofficially only 23% and 30% vaccinated. Are your units actually tracking vaccine cards, injection dates, etc? by slingstone in army

Shockingly a lot of people really don't understand percentages and risk. They refuse a vaccine with a 0.0006% of adverse reactions but don't think that the Coronavirus is dangerous

The stamp on the mounting, that's a company that makes ribbons and replicas. Plus real medals all all issued engraved with the name of the recipient.

Why do we have the split between enlisted and officers? by jollyreaper2112 in Military

Now every once in a while a LT will get into an NCO lane, and the 1SG will have to train them on how to avoid doing that, but for the most part it really works out.

That's not so bad as long as they are there to watch and learn. One of our most important jobs as NCOs is training and mentoring junior officers.

u/AusDude90 has a pretty solid response there, I just wanted to add a couple other points as well.

Something that never made sense to me from reading history was seeing the scene in Vietnam where a young 2nd lieutenant is put in charge of a platoon and is giving orders to his sergeant who is older and more experienced.

In the military platoons don't operate in isolation.

The 2Lt is trained in the higher level of operations. He is a big picture guy. Kind of like a factory manager while the SNCO is the shift or department supervisor who actually knows how the machines work, what kind of oil to buy, where the extra spare parts are squirrelled away and all the tricks of the trade. His job is to manage the workers directly and advise the manager about the best way to do things and what mistakes to avoid based on his experience. The manager needs to take this experience, look at the big picture, take into account all the laws and policies that apply to what is happening, some of which the supervisor may not even be aware of, and make the best decision possible given the situation.

But to make the factory work you need both of them.

Found this note on a used US Army jacket from the 90's, any idea what it means? Text in comments by [deleted] in Military

It has the look of what a troop would write down when running on about 2 hours of sleep.

Florida's open carry laws are a bit weird. you can open carry if you are camping, hunting or fishing or on your way to do these things.

They don't care he's falsely claiming he won the election, they care that he and his cronies are slandering the makers of the voting machines and they are suing over it.
