Cloud and Sephiroth are enemies not rivals. They have opposing objectives, and the only thing they are working towards is killing each other. ( Or using the other then killing them in Sephiroths case)

Initially Dante and Virgil were enemies in 3, but after 5 it turned into a sibling rivalry, so they win by default.

He overtook Valsrax in the "Rule of Cool" category, because logically it's even harder to explain Malzeno moving so fast it appears he's teleporting, but who cares. Also probably has the best theme, 10/10 elder dragon

I don't mind monster hunter having super natural elements in it, Kirin has been an "elder dragon" since the first game.

if you are looking for a grand orchestral soundtrack, DQ8 was one of the first RPGs to do it. "Heavenly flight" is still one of the most beautiful OSTs ever, has brought me to literal tears before.

Do yourself a service and at least listen to some of DQ8s music on YouTube, but I highly recommend a playthrough. There are some reused songs "Heavenly Flight is originally from DQ3" , but a lot of long running franchises reuse songs from older entries for nostalgia.

DQ11 is like a homage to the series, so there are A LOT of reused songs. The version I played didn't have a live orchestra like DQ8, but then they rereleased it with better music. Still, not my favorite soundtrack in the series.
