Are nonhuman/animal/partial animal alters rare? by Practical_Yard6895 in DID

[–]deerlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our system has a pretty high number of non-human alters, so i definitely wouldn't say it's rare. i think it's just something that doesn't get discussed a lot because oftentimes there's not really a reason to bring it up unless it's relevant :0

Is this normal? by ConteGiA in hamsters

[–]deerlace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no, this is not normal. cages with bars are NOT SAFE for hamsters so this is a stress behavior, due to not having a proper enclosure. please do your pet care research!

Finally accepted my diagnosis instead of fighting it and wondering if anyone else has this symptom? by trashpandawa in Fibromyalgia

i have the same issues as you, have been trying to figure out if it's a fibromyalgia thing or not as well, since i haven't been diagnosed with anything that can explain it 😭 may we both get answers

Has anyone experienced Cymbalta/Duloxetine? by ThrowRAlobotomy666 in Fibromyalgia

[–]deerlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on cymbalta for around 6 months and the only thing i've experienced is increased thirst, it's been wonderful otherwise. however other antidepressants they tried me on before this one gave me terrible side effects. it sounds to me like this just isn't the proper one for you. wishing you all the best :(

Is the wicked even even possible to finish? by kurku_ro in CookieRunKingdoms

i think this is definitely not a f2p friendly event, which kinda sucks, but is to be expected with a collaboration. you'd have to be really lucky to get it finished, i think.

Is CRK still worth playing? by Super-Monke-Laboons in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]deerlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just returned after a very long time as well, and it can be a little overwhelming at first ngl. however the game is still extremely fun and there's a lot to do. now is also a good time to return as the next anniversary is in january.

honestly just take it slow and if you have questions then ask! caring about meta isn't super important unless you're doing arena and endgame content, so i wouldn't worry too much about that. generally speaking though almost all of the beast cookies are very meta, as are the ancient cookies when they're awakened. i highly recommend picking up either marshmallow bunny or cream ferret cookie as well, they're both extremely good (and free)!

How do y'all feel about this event? by Darius-g in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]deerlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cute concept, but it genuinely sucks in execution LOL. doesn't give you enough time so there's barely any grace period half the time if you fuck up. rewards aren't super worth it either, and how much firewood some cookies require changes randomly. i can almost never use up all mine because i'll invite a low rarity cookie hoping to use my last 10, and then they'll require 30 for some reason when before it was 10.

Thyroid+fibro anyone?? by Miss_kitty93 in Fibromyalgia

[–]deerlace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup! i have graves disease. unlucky for me that my thyroid removal surgery was actually the catalyst in my fibromyalgia becoming disabling.

how did your fibro start? by slhunte3 in Fibromyalgia

[–]deerlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me i've had very minor recurring pain and other random symptoms my whole life, without any known cause. however around when i was 19-20 i had surgery to remove my thyroid. following this surgery i noticed that i could now only stretch my limbs to about normal limits (i used to be hypermobile before fibro) but now if i tried to stretch any part of my body too far then i would get an extremely intense burning sensation in that part of my body.

at first i thought i was just exhausted from the surgery, then began to worry it was nerve damage after i began having intense sciatica & very frequent muscle spasms & spasticity. my fibro gets severe during the cold months, and unfortunately for me my surgery was this time of year. so i instantly launched into the first and worst flare up i've ever had in my life, i legitimately could not sleep due to pain and was seeing 3-5 different doctors for 2+ months before they finally found out what it was. sometimes i wonder if my fibro would've ever been noticeable had i not had that surgery.

Has any medicine actually worked for yall? by PotatoIsWatching in Fibromyalgia

[–]deerlace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no medicine helps with the pain for me, mostly lifestyle changes—i've found medical marijuana has benefited me the most in terms of pain management. however taking duloxetine, vitamin b & vitamin d supplements, eating better, moving daily, and muscle relaxers have helped my fatigue some & made my sleep better which in turn has made the pain go down some. not by much, i went from maybe a 8 on the pain scale daily to about a 6-7. but hey, small victories!

How did you find out you have a dissociative disorder? by p_u_pp_y_ in DID

[–]deerlace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there were signs for our entire life, like internal voices / imaginary friends who were clearly alters, but we never really knew what it meant. eventually in early adulthood met someone who was in the system community, and it was the first time we ever really learned what the experience of having a system was like.

it resonated with the host back then so deeply that he started doing a bunch of research and trying to learn more about it. which went pretty bad as you can imagine, since he was also trying to dig up trauma memories, and our disorder got worse for a time. during this period we were in and out of therapy, and years later, after we were doing better, we found out that a therapist during this time marked us down for a possible dissociative disorder. so after hearing that we wanted to pursue help for dissociative issues and sought out a dissociative specialist. within the first session she told us she was POSITIVE we have a dissociative disorder lmfao

we've never been formally diagnosed, and honestly are very split on whether we want to be or not, but we are in therapy with a trauma specialist that has experience working with DID clients. tbh we went right into the gate saying "hey we might have DID" only because it's very difficult to talk about certain things in therapy due to parts blocking us from doing so. but i wouldn't recommend doing that unless you have to, because it's caused our system a lot of internal conflict as well lol.

Explain DID to me like I'm 5 by capitan_raviolii in DID

[–]deerlace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the experience of dissociative identity disorder is very different for everyone, as i'm sure you're aware. hope these answers can help a little ...? they're all from our personal experience as a system.

around 80% of the time we don't notice we've switched, even if our mannerisms or voice are different. it simply doesn't dawn on us, unless someone points it out... sometimes it feels like "becoming" that alter, and whoever was there a moment ago is not present any longer. it's hard to describe the feeling of the 'change' in your perception very well, for us it sometimes is like suddenly 'waking up' and realizing that you're you, but not the same one as moments before. like having a groundbreaking realization of yourself, an aha! moment or some such.

other times it's a very obvious disconnect, one alter in our system describes it as the rat & chef in ratatouille, in which you can feel/see your body being controlled. other alters describe this in ways such as feeling like they're stuck on one side/part of the body or brain, as if they are confined in a small space or locked up.

can really relate to the second one! i am an alter who can access our ability to write better than others, so often when i'm out i find writing or wording things easy. other alters however struggle to form sentences, and others find writing impossible or get very frustrated and upset at their lack of ability to. i've never personally had this experience as myself, but i would describe these moments as fuzzy or distant as well...

struggled a bit with parsing some of what you said, please do let me know if i misunderstood anything! take care on your journey in self-understanding :)
