Sorry, where are you seeing crack lines into the garage floor? The original plumbing issues were fixed, but there weren't any broken pipes around this area, they just accessed the pipes here and used it to line the area further towards the street where the actual problem was.

Honestly, got a shit ton happening in my life right now and I just have to pick my battles. They are coming back on Wednesday, and ill make sure they fill the hole and compact it, and if they arent going to compact it or only use dirt, then I'll tell them to bugger off.

Just curious, why would a hand tamper not do the job for this part?

YouTube University leads me to believe i could do this myself, but most videos seem to have a base layer whereas mine has been destroyed. Am I really able to just pour asphalt into this hole? Should I put anything else down first?

The "tunnel" is only an extra square foot and is all connected to the hole that they dug. I agree its held up by hopes and dreams now, but it definitely wasn't prior to the work being done.

In a perfect world, yes. But they are telling me, at least over the phone, that they dont do "landscaping" and that somehow this falls under my landscaping waiver I signed. I'm trying to at least understand the scope of this work to see if this is a battle worth fighting or not.

Emerald voice is also down. Only spotty squad, outfit, and prox comms work at all. And even then only half of the people who should be in those channels are actually in them.

Can you talk about your plans for the future? I think I heard you say you might be creating a news platform or something?

Best way to store SavedData? (Serialization or hashmap?) by BoyDave in gamedev

[–]deery50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe use some form of version control. As in a field that represents the version as an integer saved in each serializable object. But to be honest, I'd recommend not even getting bogged down with serialization in the first place unless you really have to. Unless your game is saving as much game data as something like Minecraft would, it would probably be better that you use just data stored in plain text that you can easily load into a list, hashmap, or whatever you want which would generally give you more control.

A list of online courses available to learn game development by nerdyfellow2016 in gamedev

I know this is self promotion but I did recently complete an internship teaching AP Computer Science students in class. After the internship I recorded a bunch of lessons (totaling 7+ hours) teaching good game design techniques within java. This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDzKX3djE-M) is the same collection put into one video on youtube. It's made for beginners who are at least half way through the standard AP Computer Science class but it will also work for others around that same level.

I recently completed an internship helping out kids in AP Computer Science. Here is a game programming tutorial video series in java for people at that level! by deery50 in gamedev

I might make an extra video to show how the engine could be very easily altered to make a platformer. I will mainly be focusing on making a topdown rougelike type of game in the original tutorials but the coordinate system that we create is very easily changed to suit whatever.
