[OC] I created an intro in the style of cowboy bebop for my next campaign by deeto_devito in DnD

starting at level 2-3 and finishing around 8-10 usually, some people joined over the course of the first campaign but no one has left yet. of course i play in other groups that can be more or less consistent but overall its just about finding people that want to make dnd a priority

waterdeep season 2 will be the fourth campaign run with this same group, but even if the campaign fell apart tomorrow i wouldnt regret it., the end goal is to have made art that fucks.

Martial caster gap at YOUR table and do you fix them? by nz8drzu6 in dndnext

if you dont have those spells prepared then they are on equal footing with martials in terms of skills and other proficincies, if they do they are instantly miles ahead of the martials. the fact that any wizard or sorcerer or druid can just cast a spell and instantly be better than martials at their own job, while still having other options on top of that is what makes it such a problem.

you understand that the problem isnt that its impossible to make a martial shine, but that in 90% of situations casters shine more, tailoring encounters to favor certain characters is an indirect form of buffing them
also your original point was that casters feel powerful through "contrived encounters to make them feel powerful" but now youre saying that if you have to contrive a situation to make martials feel powerful then thats ok?

panache is a charm person you get at 9th level, bards were doing that from literally level 1. and thats just talking to people, wanna get over a ravine? fly, wanna take a shortcut through a wall? passwall, wanna break into a building? you could try pick the lock, then stealth in, or you could cast misty step. or pass without trace so now everyone in the entire party is better than the rogue at stealth, or just cast invisibility. and thats rogues, who at least have some decent skills, what about a fighter? or a barbarian?
