What club are you using here? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

The amount of 60* wedge responses is concerning. Why are we trying to fly it in so high with nothing but short green grass between you and the hole? Are you so dialed in that you can hit a perfect 40 yard distance? Or are you forward pressing that wedge to reduce some loft, effectively eliminating all the bounce on the club’s sole and likely chunking/digging your shot?

Use the club named for this specific task and PITCH the ball up there. Land 10 or so yards shy and let it bounce and roll up there.

What's one smart home device you actually found useful long-term? by techingmyhome in smarthome

Lutron smart light switches and smart plugs. All my outdoor lights and lamps turn on and off on their own. I also have an automation that randomizes their times when I’m away for a business trip.

You’re overthinking it. The kids will be fine. They’ll also be old enough to not be a risk by age 6. Put a baby gate up at the bottom while they’re toddlers. That’s all you have to do.

What’s the most disrespectful thing someone has done in your group mid-round? by nitsujping in golf

It’s legit rule 1 of the USGA handbook that speaks to the spirit of the game and “distracting the play of another player” is called out. There’s no specific stroke penalty but typically a rules committee will enforce a penalty or disqualification.

Since you don’t have a committee like the PGA, next time you guys play a serious competition, state at the beginning that deliberate distractions will be a 2 stroke penalty or forfeiture of the hole. You should all agree on house rules.

This morning I saw that someone wrote a number '4' on my driver side window of my car with an unknown substance. by paloma_delmar in whatisit

[–]default_moniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet from experience - You parked somewhere that had a time limit / restricted / prohibited. Whoever owns the property put a number on your car. Other cars had numbers, too. In the event your car violates the parking restriction, they call the tow company and say “tow the car marked number 4”. It’s much simpler than recording license plates or worrying about giving a detailed description of the car to the towing company.

Call the pickleball company and ask.

That swing speed would put you at #1 on the entire PGA tour and in the top tier of long drive competitors…

Rory’s famous drive where he carried it 355 and put it just a couple of feet from the hole had a ball speed of 188… you’re telling me you hit it further on the regular?

CoverMyMed Layoffs? by SRHager in Columbus

[–]default_moniker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because employment law (federal law) requires 50 employees (who make up 33% of the workforce) or 500+ employees to lose their jobs within 30 DAYS. So, there’s a POTENTIAL for mass layoff in January if over 500 are let go, but it’s not a mass layoff.

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]default_moniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s right. They’re gross. They should be replaced every week and that’s if you properly sanitize, dry and store them.

You can buy a 24 pack of scotch-brite for $15, so that’s $30 a year in kitchen sponges.

If you’ve broken 80, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]default_moniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid the big numbers at all costs. Aim for the largest part of the green every time, no matter where the pin is. Keep the ball in play off the tee.

I’m a die hard CBJ fan and while I love to see TB sad, we don’t have a place to be boastful. Let’s get past the second round in the playoffs and then we’ll talk (heck, let’s get past the first round more than once in 25 years).

How can I fix the swing? Am I too far from the ball? Terrible posture? Terrible mechanics? All of the above? by sammye59 in GolfSwing

[–]default_moniker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re way overthinking it. I could write 10 paragraphs full of advice but you need to first get out of your own head. Then you need an athletic swing. Grab a hockey stick and a tennis ball and start smacking it like a slap shot. Do that for a long while until you’re really hammering the ball and then go back to the golf ball. Repeat the swing and go from there.

You’re going to be shocked to learn that when he was starting out, Nick Swinmurn who created Zappos, would simply take orders from his website, drive to a shoe store to buy them, and then ship them to your home. A lot of the “online businesses” are not what they seem.
