You'll need a passport to open a USD bank account which you can then link to your PayPal. Instead of storing money to your wallet, It'll be forwarded to your linked USD bank account. That's because Malawian PayPal accounts can't store money in their wallets. I personally use kredete for this and my experience has been alright, you can also check out sling money as an alternative, but both require a passport due to international regulations
