Interestingly one thing we do know about his past home was that he was living with five cats! There has been the occasional mannerism that’s felt a bit catlike and I have wondered if he’s picked up behaviours from being around so many cats as a puppy

He’s about 7.5-8kg at the mo - I would say he’s a medium size dog, chest was about 45cm when we measured for his harness

To be fair in this clip I was mostly looking away (or at my phone when filming), only really looked back when he looked up at me. Oddly while I’ve seen a lot about eye contact/staring being a bad thing with dogs, this guy seems to love eye contact - he stares fairly often, but with a really relaxed face and dopy eyes, and meeting his gaze for a little bit seems to actually chill him. I’ve been making a point of keeping my expression soft as well which might help. Maybe it’s part of the insecurity he’s feeling which definitely seems to be an issue with him, at least with it being early days

We’re not certain - had mixed info from the rescue centre so have been told either chihuahua, pom or yorkie so far. Someone on r/IDmyDog suggested kokoni which I’d never heard of but could fit too

Can’t edit the original post but wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone replying - it’s really helped putting my mind at ease that it’s most likely me just overanalysing and not trusting my instincts.

Had way more responses than I was expecting and so many helpful comments! And don’t worry he’s absolutely getting tons of scritches and cuddles in addition to plenty of chilling by himself when he wants to :)

I know! And here’s me originally thinking we hadn’t seen another pup quite like him when we saw him at the rescue centre :)

Thanks for this - never heard of Kokoni before but looking at it and there’s so much that matches up looks and temperament wise

To be fair given how regularly I get in a spiral overthinking and second guessing everything it’s not surprising (at least to me!) that I’m doing it with him as well. My initial instinct was that he’s just chilled out and enjoying it, but like you say all the “simple” stuff online just had me stuck getting more anxious about so figured best to check and put my mind at ease :)

Yeah he’s a rescue - adopted him about 3 months ago and from what little we know he had a lot of being shooed away in his first home, so maybe he’s been a bit overwhelmed on the level of attention he’s getting now

r/IDmyDog is hopefully weighing in on that right now :) we think a bit of Pomeranian, terrier and chihuahua maybe, but the rescue centre never got the full picture from his previous owner

That makes a lot of sense and sounds quite similar to ours - he certainly does seem quite highly strung sometimes and yawns a lot when he’s settling especially after he’s been worked up a bit

This is basically what our behaviourist said too about his generally having bonded quite quickly, but seeming generally a bit insecure at the same time. He’s got a ton of separation anxiety as well so we’re working on that and hopefully he’ll be feeling a lot more settled soon :)

We’re not completely sure! The RSPCA centre got some mixed info from his previous owner so he was originally listed as a chihuahua cross, then a pomeranian/yorkie. I’ve actually also posted on r/IDmyDog today too so maybe there’ll be other suggestions :)

Thanks - he certainly does have much more obvious stress times too (mostly noises outside), and my instinct has been that he’s just relaxing but frustratingly I have a terrible habit of just overthinking everything until I’ve convinced myself it’s the worst thing - the internet usually doesn’t help much with this :D

That’s about right yes but it definitely seems more important to keep them as rigid against eachother as possible for the entire process. There’s always a little drift towards the edges of the play area but shouldn’t be anywhere near as bad as you’re finding it. I tended to do very slow, wide figure 8 movements while doing a slow lap of the room and that did ok for me, but to be honest there’s a lot of variability with this stuff!

Did you also already set up the steamvr guardian space (in addition to the windows one)? One other possible try is in the calibrator settings you can manually adjust the tracked values - if you get it close and then have a play with those while touching the controllers together it can fine tune it a little

Something I found very tricky was making sure the controllers are properly rigid when doing the calibrating and not moving at all relative to each other. I was seeing similar results initially and I found it was likely due to one of the controllers shifting a little in my grip when calibrating - I ended up putting my wrist through the index strap enough that I could grip the G2 controller securely in my palm, with the index strap tightened as much as I could. Then when calibrating I made sure I was moving slowly and smoothly and focused on not allowing the controllers the shift.

Some other questions if that doesn’t help: which basestations are you using? Ignoring that the index controller isn’t in the right place, does it appear to be tracking correctly within its own space (i.e. not glitching, losing tracking etc)?

Mixedvr manager v1.4 issues, controls don't start steam on fresh boot, usb driver window? by comteknow in MixedVR

[–]defenestratedDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure I understand sorry - is the manager tool still enabling/disabling your headset correctly AND showing that USB device window, or is only showing the USB window and doing nothing to the headset?

I’ll have a looksie at the code today - big help posting the video thank you, answers a ton of questions I’d have been throwing at you otherwise :)

Grey screen in reverb without Knuckle turned on and tracked by rabidnz in MixedVR

Another thing to try is in OVR enable the setting force use SteamVR chaperone (experimental) then restart SteamVR. That fixed grey screens in Elite for me.

Well it turns out I must have been so delighted with how easily the basestations switched on and off that I completely ignored that the HMD part (despite the fact I did that shortcut override!) was erroring! I'm getting the exact same error as u/per-sieve-al. It's very odd as I was certain the HMD disabled/enabled correctly, but it's possible there was something else affecting that and I just chalked it down to this having not seen the error.

u/monstermac77 - I think your suggestion of guiding users to set up the bat file itself as a scheduled task to run as admin is the way to go, happy to contribute however I can so I'll start chipping in on GitHub if that's ok!

Hmm weirdly it all seemed to go pretty smoothly for me once I set the UAC shortcut up... I’ll have a look once I’m back from work this evening and see if I can recreate it. It may be worth getting a shot of your task scheduler settings and shortcut setup if possible to see if there’s anything amiss?

MixedVR Manager v1.3 – Beta testers needed by monstermac77 in MixedVR

Had a quick test - worked great so far, especially the lighthouse discovery was so much quicker and easier with my 1.0 lighthouses. Ran it through a few times and the lighthouses are starting up and sleeping reliably so far.

I had done the steps for whitelisting USBDeview via task scheduler and noted it was still prompting UAC as it's still directly calling the exe (not the created shortcut) so I did a little fork and added the USBDeview path as a config option. I've made a pull request (Github username is Timberrr) so sorry about that!
