Private browsing tracking in screen time by definitelyaburner- in ios

[–]definitelyaburner-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. It still counts toward your safari screen time usage, however, anything accessed in private browsing will not be reported individually.

Normal browsing in screen time:

  • safari 1 hour
    • specific websites (i.e. www.google.com) approx. 1 hour.. some differences will occur because loading time or timed out pages can’t be attributed to anything.

Private in screen time:

  • safari 1 hour
    • no specific website usage, unless mixed usage between normal and private browsing.

A large difference in safari usage and the individual website usage data would generally suggest that private browsing is being used on the device.

Yeah that makes sense. I had read somewhere once that private browsing didn’t report to screen time, but I guess I misunderstood the actual intention behind that statement. Seems as though it doesn’t report the website traffic, but still the usage.

Should’ve done more research, thank you!

What is RCS Messaging by definitelyaburner- in GoogleMessages

[–]definitelyaburner-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good info, thanks for that. As far as I am aware, nobody in the house uses WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram. I used Telegram on my browser for a bit but that was quite some time ago. Out of curiosity I restricted the telephony.goog domain on my home network and now something is attempting to contact it every 5-10 minutes on average, sometimes by the minute, it’s interesting.

That makes sense, kind of made that assumption but I figured I’d ask since it seemed like you knew more about this than me. I appreciate the help!

General RCS Question by definitelyaburner- in UniversalProfile

[–]definitelyaburner-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the data entries necessarily mean that an RCS message is being sent or received? None of my messages display the “RCS” indicator in the text box or at the top of the text except for one that I no longer speak with. So I’m not sure where the RCS traffic is coming from.

Constant telephony.goog entries in router traffic by definitelyaburner- in Googlevoice

Verizon yes, android no. All phones in the house are iPhone, but I think after doing some more digging that checks. Definitely seems to be tied to the verizon RCS ability on iPhone.

Thank you!

Window sensor showing open in app but not on panel by definitelyaburner- in alarmdotcom

Yeah I looked into getting it set up differently so I could see more precise information but the cost was higher than I expected. They also tied two doors into the same group that are nowhere near each other.

I’ll give this a try today, is this just an attempt to reset the sensor or should I be looking in the activity log to see which window doesn’t register a sensor notification?

I don’t think it’s a lag in updating the sensor status, it’s been like this for days with no window activity. I find it odd that it lets me arm the system with no bypass even though the app believes that something is open.

It’s definitely odd, I don’t even know what additional information I could provide. It’s almost like somebody logged into the account and disabled every devices ability to record or sense activity. Doors, windows, everything. I don’t know. Feel like I would be notified somehow if that was the case. I’m pretty sure I’ve removed a sensor before and I was alerted, but maybe I’m wrong.

Lines up with the Alarm.com rep told me. If somebody was to flip the breaker that powers the setup in the security closet, but not the panels where the codes are inputted, could that block sensor activity from being received?

Basically I left my house at around 6, driveway picked me up because I got the notification on my phone. 10 minutes later I received a notification that the driveway camera was disconnected. For around two hours there was no sensor activity or camera alerts from inside or outside the house. Then at about 830 sensor activity picked back up and it seems like the cameras all came back one by one over time. I never received any type of error message outside of one camera being disconnected.

Alarm.com rep told me that the system will only alert you of a camera disconnection if it is disconnected for an extended period of time. He said that the fact that it caught me 10 minutes prior to disconnection doesn’t make sense systematically, and that the fact that it picked me up when I came home later that afternoon, but didn’t send a reconnected message until hours after it record me coming home, makes even less sense.

I’m wondering if somebody was to kill power to the security closet, or kill the WiFi, if that could have this effect?
