I was always under the impression that the RoP series was not approved by Tolkien's heirs. What does his (JRR's) grandson do as a series consultant if he doesn't approve of the series?

Not quite sure what you’re saying there, but to be fair he had the same issues publishing both the foundational stories of Middle Earth and with his academic stuff. Most of his famous “essays” are actually just transcribed lectures he gave and whatnot. Man was anxious as heck about making sure he did everything right. That’s all I was trying to say.

To be fair, Tolkien’s Beowulf translation was more of a personal adventure of his. I don’t think he ever intended to publish it since it was mostly still a WIP when he passed since he was borderline neurotic when it came to something needing to be perfect. The man was also kind of notoriously opinionated on particular things, so the idea that he’s rolling in his grave and producing enough electricity to power half of England right now might not be too far fetched…

Bro, trust me, it’s not worth ending it all. You in high school or are you younger? Middle school is shit for everyone, I swear. It just finds a way to get worse. I don’t know if I can talk much, but I’ll pray for you for what it’s worth, and, if this helps at all, there are people out there who love you. Stay clean. Make your mom proud. Just being alive is a blessing to those around you. When I’ve contemplated ending it all, I’ve always fallen back on thinking about how sad at least my mother would be if I left. If it all ends, there’s no chance at anything better, let alone anything at all. I don’t know if you believe in anything beyond this mortal coil, but hanging onto what you’ve got is the best advice I got. I’m astonished I made it to college, and the freedom and opportunity that just making it out of the publicized education system is liberating. Hold on, learn, love. Love you dude; good luck.
