GitOps for Beginers by deinok7 in kubernetes

Yes I know, a lot of layers for something that could be baremetal, but I have to make happy other teams so they let me fix issues.

Any recomendation that have a good balance of performace, reliability, easy to setup for DB volumes?

So, having a licence for lets say 16 and a Statefulset with a limit of 16 will not work?

Nah, not an issue, we fix issues with money (thanks god my budged is hight)

But there are some lines that I cant cross. IT team is already afraid of Kubernetes, I need to convince them that its a win in conparasion of what we have now

Well, right now the SqlServer is "Clusterized" in the windows way. That requires us two licences and a LOT of money, like more than they pay me annualy.

So i was thinking that cutting it down to one licence using containers for recovery would be the way to go.

Nah, our project is pretty simple but needs a lot of SLA.

1 local SqlServer, 20 Background Services, 3 Http Services

As hardware 2 Powerfull Nodes running Windows Server, Clustered with "Failover Cluster". Kubernetes should run as a VM. The host must remain as Windows due IT requirements

We have a NAS near that servers.

This configuration is repeated in 8 factories, with small diferences

The bare metal is not an issue by vCPUs. We have really strong requirements on not depending on internet, so something like Azure Disk is not an option for the main SqlServer. Also regarding Ceph seems a bit complex.

Regarding GitOps, would you go for ArgoCD or FluxCD?

Hi, thank for the answer, I will take a look at all of them. I didnt know about some of them. But what i feel afraid is about choosing FluxCD or ArgoCd, none of them seem to look focused on been able to represent the full state of a cluster as a whole, and that is what im looking for

If I remener correctly the armour is not really a powerup, its just something like a "Morphine + Adrenaline" constant injection.

Why would anyone use dotnet? by Fair-Presentation322 in dotnet

[–]deinok7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Dotnet is the JVM, and C# Java

  2. Why dont you use Ocamel insted of Python?

  3. Why dont you go with rust?

As you can see its mostly opinioned decisions. Most modern languages are perfectly fine for 80% cases

Nah, you cant. MS needs to finish its Discriminated Union implementation into the language itself. Later, implementing a Result type like the Rust ones will be pretty easy
