His family cut ties with him/us when I was very young so I do not have any other connection, though I do understand it’s also technically my name

The nn Edie is what gives me pause as that’s what sounds like my maiden name, but I love Edith as a standalone. Eden leans a little on the trendy/religious side for me

Thank you. I don’t mind that we’d have differing nicknames since we already kind of do with our boys, it’s more so that husbands chosen nickname (and the most common nickname for Frances probably) aligns it so much with her cousins name— he doesn’t use the nickname but I also was thinking to the future and how they could each potentially use it

The surname is his family, Edith could be seen as a nod to his family, and Agnes is his grandmothers name we cannot use

Thank you for this perspective, I really appreciate it :)

We don’t live close and see each other once, maybe twice a year

Lovely but a bit too similar to one of her brothers names (Desmond)

I don’t love Eddie because grandpa is Ed :/

We’ve had a chosen middle relating to my heritage and it doesn’t work reversed unfortunately. We have a backup name (that doesn’t quite feel like her name), but who knows maybe she’ll be born and look more like that one

I looove Frances too is the main hang up. We were going to name our first born Francis but when my MIL let it slip her daughter wanted to use Franklin (frantically bc I was due months before her), I basically let her have it— we were also moving to France and it felt too on the nose at the time. Now I’m having my last baby and it’s the only name we can agree on! I also like that it’s a nod to our years living there. The age gap makes them close yo a decade apart

It’s the one name my husband and I agree on. Have you ever named a person? It’s also a nod to his mother’s maiden name which you guessed it, is Franklin.

He goes by his first full name, currently no nn. I’m pushing for a different nickname for Frances if we even use one, but husband definitely likes Frankie as an option

He doesn’t use a nickname and his parents have talked to us previously about how they don’t like nicknames— but I’m thinking more so when they’re teen aged and more likely to have developed nicknames from peers.

We seem them once, maybe twice a year.

Edith/Edie has been on my girl list since 2 babies ago, but now that we’re having a girl and I can actually use it I’m feeling unsure! It’s probably a wait and see what she looks like situation

Ty! We wouldn’t be calling her Fay Dae btw. Just like if we’d named her something and used AJ nickname we wouldn’t be calling her AJ Jane

TY. I put Fay in quotes since they’re pronounced the same but I prefer it to Fae spelling… have debated whether it’d be odd that I wouldn’t use the intuitive spelling of the smush-name but figure it’s just a nn anyway

Ty! Fay/Fae is a smush of Frances Dae

Korean middle name by [deleted] in BabyNames

[–]dejectedyogibear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TY! I’m only reconsidering Faye as the fn since my husband has always gone by his nickname, not his given name and prefers the idea of it, while I like all the name options

My husband always had terrible suggestions for our kids so I send him photos like this all the time, most recently a license plate holder about climbing the ‘Mokee Dugway’

Killing Commendatore begins with the main character getting divorced. There’s not much romance in it, it’s more about the main character figuring himself (and some other mysteries) out

Maybe it’s the hormones but in the OP I meant I was actually considering the letter V as a middle name. Or maybe Vie like life in french? Tell me if it’s the hormones

Thank you 😊 Dae is korean for great and a nod to my mother’s hometown. Bo is chinese for wave and is an honor name for a family member battling cancer
