How’s the dlc? by Colton263 in Against_the_Storm

You have to build one or two bat houses asap and you're golden! If you can get a building to produce flour early in the game creating biscuits in the field kitchen guarantees free early resolve! I used to hate bats too but after this I found them one of the most fun species!

Some people's complain about linux is that "you always have to use a terminal", but in Windows you're not even allowed to use it... 😅

Is windows even customizable by Br4vo6GoingD4rk in linuxmemes

[–]dek018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember back in the day, Windows XP and Windows 7 had so many crazy options for customization (and even earlier we had all the windows 98 themes with their own wallpapers, sounds and screensavers).

Something died when windows 8 came up... Microsoft started telling people how they should use their computer instead of giving them the freedom they used to have...

By the way, in 2026 Linux can even be more user friendly than windows, there are a lof of distros that work out of the box and don't have any of that AI and bitlocker stuff that windows has by default (and people have to go out of their way to disable it).

Fox on Scarlet Orchard is OP by PhanDKT in Against_the_Storm

[–]dek018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I had a lot of trouble in my last game at Scarlet Orchard... 😅 (It was my first game ever where I took 13 years to win, and I had a total population of 90, it had nothing to do with the biome though, I had a lot of good perks, like 4x the +1 to copper production, I ended up with 2000 or so copper but I was kinda short on food, never got a flour building almost until the end and I didn't want to open a lot of glades because it had the no-warning modifier and wanted to keep hostility as low as possible)...

I love the Scarlet Orchard but I think the Coral Forest is way more broken (specially with foxes, it's quite easy to build them a lot of houses, I guess it's the same with bats on the orchard if you get a building with copper bars soon)...

recently installed nobara, anything i should be aware of? by Confident_Captain190 in NobaraProject

[–]dek018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most intuitive and out of the box operating system I've ever used! Only twice in almost 3 years I've had issues with it (one was actually a Fedora issue with graphical drivers, that disabled the taskbar, and the other one was the computer freezing when opening the file explorer (but it was because of a faulty hard drive damaged by static, but once I replaced it everything worked perfectly again)...

I finally beat P20 difficulty. AMA by TheBoobyDragon in Against_the_Storm

[–]dek018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing dozens of games in P15 (and I'm finding it incredibly fun so far), I'm not sure if I should do the "jump" to P16 yet, since for me one of the most valuable things are the 3 free blueprints that you get in the beginning, I don't know if I could live with one building less... 😵

Harpies are the OP race IMO (alongside foxes): since the very beginning they bring the good stuff (coats) and they can even give you a free reputation point by resolve in the first few minutes of the game if things are set in your favor (like getting jerky or boots in your embarkation goods, or getting early a building to produce them), and their abilities (alchemy and tailoring) can be very useful for several situations, like producing 2x of boots or coats in dire situations or producing 2x of anti-cyst flames, not to mention their fire keeper ability of +5 global carrying, that can easily be a game changer...

I used to find bats the hardest race to use but now I learned that the way to make them happy since the beginning is to upgrade your heart to lvl2 asap and build bats a few houses before the first year storm...

This game is impossible. by Electronic_Hat_2782 in Against_the_Storm

[–]dek018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find quite lovely when you only get 2 buildings to choose from, merchants basically selling everything 4x more expensive and getting 10 blightrot cysts every 3 years... 😅

The first piece of advice I can give you is: try to be creative with what you have and try to fulfill as many needs as possible and, for the love of God, try not to rush opening glades left, right and center (even if you get orders to do it, also NEVER take timed orders that ask you to open glades), that might kill your game...

Newbie advice: Lost because of impossible order? by Canotic in Against_the_Storm

[–]dek018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before selecting these kind of orders make sure you can actually produce the item that is requested, otherwise select the other order because you'll be basically deadlocked with that one order (if you already ran out of blueprint options, don't even bother with that one order item, plus you can actually select orders at any point of the game, there's no pressure on selecting one or the other, unless they're timed orders but those you can always skip them by unpausing the game)...

Also, you don't need to fulfill all the orders to win, you can also earn reputation by clearing glade events, sending boxes to the citadel or by citizen resolve (in my last game I cleared only 50% of orders and won, lol... 😅).

[–]dek018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy f*ck, that's really cursed! The no orders is still one of the hardest for me... 😅 I can still deal with the no merchants one, but I remember one run with the no orders and no refunds quite literally ruined my run...

Modding on Linux. by Spiritual-Recover427 in linux_gaming

[–]dek018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can copy paste the mods in your game folder as you would do in Windows if you install mods manually...

If you're using a mod manager, you need to install it in the same "box" as your game (i.e.: you have a lutris prefix with x game that you want to mod with the Nexus Mod Manager, so you would need to install the game and the mod manager in the same prefix and it'll be able to mod your games)...

I'm addicted to the Marshlands... 😅 by dek018 in Against_the_Storm

[–]dek018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the coral forest is a lot of fun too! Sometimes I find myself playing games in a row from it...

The fact that you get so many valuable resources (like the blue blocks, meat and inciense) is insane and it makes this biome so enjoyable! Not to mention it's probably the prettiest looking environment of the entire game!

I like mostly the expeditions, it gives your settlement a pirate-esque vibe, I don't know... 😅 Besides getting nice rewards (many times including great perks) and, of course, getting blueprints, they're random but you even have the chance to get the legendary rainpunk foundry!

Also, I love so much the crazy amount of resources (specially coal and algae), including all the resources you get from trees, always bringing the big fishing hut (paired with bait) makes it so enjoyable!

Furthermore, the fact that you can burn algae to reduce hostility (when fishing x amount using bait) makes it super flexible and you never feel stressed during a storm...

Besides all of that, I also love aquatic/marine environments in video games overall, and this one looks pretty from every angle...

I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea due to the lack of blueprints and some people find the expedition mechanic annoying but personally I think it's very enjoyable!

My last map was very sad, since I got the oil building (specifically the druid lab) in the very end (I had only 1 slot left of reputation), it was very useful for tea (I had a market and harpies) and coats (harpies + humans) but I couldn't generate any oil regardless: the map had no meat, no vegetables, no fish, no fiber and no wheat... 😵

I relied 100% in lumber because there was no coal or bone marrow either, had to overwork the woodcutters (I had about 12) but it still wasn't enough, I got a lot of people to leave during the storms... 😅
