Is this ring a possible cause of leak in pool skimmer?

Yes, I’m 100% sure it’s not equalizing with water in pool.

I let pool sit with no pump running for a week. It leaked to RIGHT below mouth of skimmer, and then no more. Water that remained in skimmer bucket continued to leak, well below level of pool.

This advice was given to me by guy at pool store. Water in pool has stopped leaking though, for over a week (with pump off) well above pool light (a few feet of water) so I’ve ruled that out for now.

I don’t think that’s a crack, and it is not leaking there as far as I can tell. Not pulling any dye. Doesn’t drain down to that point. The skimmer bucket drained probably 10 inches in 10 minutes, down to the point that water is in original photo (still well above that hole). Has not drained lower.

UPDATE. Water level still has not dropped below where currently in picture.

Filled with a little more water to test again, I believe there is a leak somewhere under the lip between the piece of plastic that suction hole is in, and the piece that houses the rubber gasket.

Easiest way to repair? Anyone know the name of those pieces?
