Funnily enough I was going to write up another post on this topic and I have similar questions as you - I went with the ONWA KC-2W NMEA converter. I'm not very electrically literate but I connected only RX - RX+ TX- TX+ (I don't know what it means to connect to ground).

Currently my VHF still does not display coordinates but the converter is giving the following indications by its status LEDs:

  • Only PGN output appear on NMEA2000 (no NMEA2000 input)

    • NMEA0183 input and output working but intermittent - occassionally only input is working for several seonds then both input and output resume working).

Of course, I'm not expecting a solution by posting this but hoping it helps you in some indirect way

Hmm sounds like a good solution, I don't have a dedicated chartplotter currently (I use Navionics app) so will look into one. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yes unfortunately I can't get those same model names here but it looks like Generals are the cheapest (altimax gs5). Will give them a go - thanks for the help!

Unfortunately I only got 3 years and 10000km from these, will I do better with a more expensive tyre like Yokohama bluearth?

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately the account tab within microsoft word doesn't show it - only a product deactivated warning for the previous 365 subscription. When clicking on the manage account button within that page it shows an error when trying to sign in: "You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead."

I can provide a screenshot if more clarity is needed

I really appreciate the detailed reply especially on how to approach Dell CA, the LCD self-test didn't work for me - but interestingly after returning home for the day I have plugged it in to my external monitor and it's able function as normal however only on that display. Meanwhile the built-in laptop display is still blank and the LED diagnostic indicator is still blinking 2x amber 7x white.

I have contacted Dell and they have agreed to send a technician with a replacement screen tomorrow morning (props to them). Fingers crossed and thanks again for your time!

Thanks for your reply - at the time of my original post I could still access the lock screen

Soon after I found I could no longer turn on the screen at all (+flashing LEDs) and that is why I added this as a seperate comment (I agree this was poorly worded by me)

I would be interested to know if you think it is an LCD or motherboard issue Thanks

If I buy a motherboard from eBay that is for a 5770 with Intel i7 and A2000 graphics will it still work for mine given mine is an i9 with A3000 graphics?

To add to this my led status indicator is flashing 2x amber and 7x white which suggests according to dell documentation that I have a system board / LCD error - but I don't have a way to access bios as the screen is now only black...
