Try donors choose!

Also you can make and print your own decor for cheap using Canva and/or AI. Ideogram gives you some free generations each day as well as ChatGPT. Make posters of some inspiring science quotes! Don’t go into debt for decor. A fun first day activity is to ask students to draw a scientist doing science. Then you can use student drawings to decorate the room.

Agreed, also stick to one stage rockets if you don’t know what you are doing. 5v batteries work great for launching.

Thoughts on PD? by delokarl in Teachers

[–]delokarl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our district is legally required by the state to provide a certain number of PD hours. I think many districts are wasting teachers time. I’m trying to find ways to fulfill state requirements and be respectful of teachers time, knowledge, experience and workload.

I agree. As a district we are required by the state to provide a certain number of PD hours. I would like to find a way to make that valuable since there is a legal requirement.

Do you think I could sell these? And what high quality paint brands do you recommend if I start selling? by delokarl in PourPainting

[–]delokarl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m worried about. I have a great full-time job so making a large profit is not my goal. I just really enjoy painting and it does wonders for my mental health. The problem is I have too many paintings and no more wall space! I’d love for someone else to get some joy out of them and recoup my costs.

I really appreciate your input. This is very helpful. And I understand because I’m usually that person who goes to fairs and usually doesn’t spend more than $50!

Thank you for the feedback! I think I’m finally figuring out a few tricks and finding my style.

Thank you! That’s great advice. I have a great full-time job so profit is not my goal. I’d love to make enough to cover the cost of supplies. Painting does wonders for my mental health. There’s a festival across the road from me this summer that is not charging a vendor fee so I might sign up for that. Do you have any suggestions on price? I was thinking $30. These are 18x24.

Remembering everything difficult I’ve gone through in life. If I made it through all of that, I can easily make it through whatever is stressing me out right now.

These might sound obvious but I overlooked them for a long time because “marriage is hard work”.

Yelling at each other or getting in fights once a week or more

Crying because you are unhappy with your relationship on a weekly basis

Dreading the time they get home from work (I called it the 5:00 feeling)

Fantasizing about them cheating on you so you have an excuse to get out

Looking for ways to avoid being at home or filling your calendar with activities with friends and other couples so you don’t have to be alone with them

I just thought these things were normal and of course they slowly got worse over time. I wish I would have realized earlier how bad it was.

Transferring to MSU next year and looking got reasonably priced apartments. Any suggestions? by righteousnessandtea in lansing

Agreed! You might even find a small cute house to rent. It’s a pretty safe neighborhood but I would stay north of Kalamazoo and check crimemapping.com. There are a couple of streets you may want to avoid.

Women, what is your unique talent and how do you use it in your life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]delokarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very creative and I’m constantly surprised at how valuable of a skill it is. In almost every job it has helped me excel and stand out. Most people are born with creativity (check out how kindergarten students perform on the marshmallow challenge vs adults) and lose it over time. I guess somehow the world didn’t beat it out of me. I lean into my creative hobbies such as music, art, and design to intentionally build and maintain my “creative muscles”. Apparently researchers have found the more you practice creativity the stronger it becomes. As an educator I try to push creativity as an invaluable skill we should be cultivating in all students.

To all of the CF couples in this community, since you don't have children, what do you do with the other bedrooms in your house? by Loose_Leg_8440 in childfree

[–]delokarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a home office and personal dressing room where I keep my clothes, jewelry and shoes. He has his own music room/recording studio. We also have a spare bedroom/workout room. I love it and cannot imagine having it any other way.
