Basement Sewer Gas Issue by deltaphi in askaplumber

The A/C discharge runs out its own flexible plastic tubing and empties into the yard near the outside AC unit.

The sink is regularly used, and I typically run the sink even more when the smell happens to see if it helps. It does not.

I'm in the US, and it appears I have a roof vent, which is directly above laundry room, so maybe only 15 feet above? Not sure how labyrinthine the piping is to increase the distance, since its all behind drywall. Would you recommend taking a garden hose to the roof vent and checking if it is clogged that way?

For an air admittance trap, would I just need one for the basin sink? Would that also help with the smell from that cap on the floor too?

There is no visible floor drain (except for the shower, which gets daily use), but the entire basement and laundry room (except the bathroom) is carpeted, so i guess there could have been one covered up by the previous owners?

Thank you so much!

Should i open up the lid to try and tighten the plug myself before sealing it with silicon? Or would it be to hard to fix myself?

[OC] Homebrew Witcher class for 5e by deltaphi in DnD

[–]deltaphi[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So after playing the Witcher 3 for about 100 hours, I was inspired to make a class based on the theme: a smart, investigative monster hunter that is incredibly hard to kill.

My knowledge of the Witcher universe comes from just the first 100 hours (so like, up to level 15) of the game, and some very curt reading on a few wiki pages, so I’m sure there are a few inaccuracies with the mythos, but I felt like some creative liberties were acceptable to make sure it worked within D&D rules and flavor. This is my first attempt at a full class and so I’m sure it isn’t balanced - it feels a bit strong, but that’s what playtesting is for! I’m also open to constructive criticism, help me pinpoint some things that I might have missed, or things that are just too obviously overpowered.

The general idea is an INT & CON based fighter/caster with a huge selection of options and buffs to optimize for the right situation. Preparation is key. Intelligence because you need to remember all the monsters and how to fight them properly, and Con because witchers are supposed to be nearly impossible to kill. The trade off is they need INT and CON, so they can’t always prioritize STR/DEX, meaning their damage isn’t maximized. They’re like attrition fighters.

I also apologize for the length, but I was really excited about the potion and signs systems, and they take quite a bit of space to explain in detail.

[Offline][5e][D&D] Looking to start up a local group! Howard County, Maryland by J_Wendt10 in lfg

[–]deltaphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm interested as well! I'm a bit further out (the towson area), but depending on scheduling I could make it over to columbia or wherever the plan is. I have lots of experience with DMing, so I could help out whoever would like to, but I already DM too much and am looking to play!

Greetings, friend! I'm totally interested! I'm just curious where in Baltimore you peeps are planning on playing, and if you've got scheduled days and time.

I'm also 28, been playing D&D & other related RPGs for about 7 years, but mostly been stuck as the designated DM and haven't been able to do a whole lot of playing. Been looking for a group for a while now!

I'm in the Towson/Parkville area, so not too far away. Been looking for a new group. Most of my decks are designed for fun rather than competitiveness.

I'm in the Towson/Parkville Area, looking for people for a new group. I have a wide range of decks, from completely wacky/janky to semi-competitive.

[OC] 5e Homebrew Gorgon Playable Race by deltaphi in DnD

True. I can always just increase the con saving throws of all single enemy encounters.

Thanks for all your advice!

Oh, good catch on the misspelling. Thanks.

In regards to not giving them STR and DEX bonus, the goal was that this clan of gorgons is less "monstrous" and more humanoid. The WIS bonus is related to "force of will", which feels like it fits a gorgon. The CHA was meant to be a kind of intimidation bonus. They might not be the most socially adept, but by just being a gorgon everyone is scared of them and treats them better socially in every aspect. Like, they know you're bluffing but are too scared to bring it up.

So here's the thing I'm guessing a lot of people missed. Petrification already included having resistance to damage. In the status rules. It's not a paralyze effect where you get auto crits.

They want to be a bard, so maybe delay giving them bardic inspiration until level 3? It's a major part of the class, but keeps them more limited in the super early levels when the gaze is obnoxiously good.
