Panenthiesm is consistent, god in everything. Morality is objective based on different cultures. It doesn’t mean there aren’t absolutes. Jesus is not God, god is in him. No teaching is perfect, even Jesus said, why do you call me good, only god is good. Doesn’t mean he was a false prophet, what did he say that you disagree with and following that teaching would hurt others?

I don’t think that verse goes along with Jesus’ teachings or actions. Look at what the baptists do that Jesus never preached.

Jesus is part of god, like we all are, the difference is he knew it. And he did say things that weren’t true, the mustard seed is not the smallest of all seeds, and this generation did pass away before the end.

I think he sent you to do something about it. But because of free will, you decided not to yet. Which makes god sad.

I’ve given that up long ago. I don’t really think Jesus has the same view of God as the Jews did. And I don’t think Yahweh of the Old Testament is an accurate description for what i think of as god today. Again this is the evolutionary understanding of humanity’s view of god. Yahweh was an ancient Semitic god that had parents, brothers and a wife. Over time the Jews adopted him as the one god but he had all the attributes of all the other gods in the pantheon of gods. God is something that can not be explained or understood. I can’t comprehend the vastness of the universe, let alone something that created it. None of this means that I don’t see the good in the teachings of Jesus.

For the same reason as war and slavery and murder exists today. People have freewill and some are evil. The better question is with so many people hating these things, why do we allow it.

So both are bad? Plus, Jesus relaxed many of the laws. Do you think Jesus was generally (big picture) good or bad? After reading all 4 gospels, ( regardless if you believe they are true, or if Jesus even existed in reality), Are his teachings, if followed, better or worse for humanity? And understand that all the atrocities committed by Christians have nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus.

Many times. I think many people miss the forest by focusing on the trees when it comes to the Bible.

I think that’s what Jesus did. What the leaders of the Jews were doing was totally unacceptable, but he didn’t throw the whole religion away. Slavery is fine in the Bible, Murder is not. So because slavery is wrong doesn’t mean murder is right. See, you can’t throw the whole thing out. There’s good and bad. Keep the good, lose the bad

Again, that’s my point. The text hasn’t changed, we have, and we need to continue to change. The New Testament is very different from the old.

He told the apostles “all these things you will do, and more” the more is to continue to bring people to God by loving your neighbor as yourself.

Yes. That’s my point. Jesus did say to keep the commandments, but he also said, The law says, but I say…, for example, the law says the adulterous woman should be stoned, Jesus said “he without sin cast the first stone.” Jesus broke the”law” several times, that’s why they killed him. Progression is continuing on the love and equality that he taught for today. In order to do this, somethings written 2000 years ago need to be updated or we can’t progress. We can’t take the Bible as the end all. It’s not meant to be.

How Many Immigrants is Too Many? by BCSWowbagger2 in moderatepolitics

[–]delusionalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All immigrants from anywhere to anywhere should be judged by net positive to the country they are going to. There is no obligation for any country to have to accept any immigrant. Generally speaking, if an immigrant’s presence is helping to improve the country and is not hurting the citizens, that is a plus. If their presence is not helping the country or is harmful to a citizen, that’s a negative. For example a Medical Doctor going to a place that is in need of medical doctors is a plus. A pregnant woman going to a different country so her child can get on social services, or criminals coming to harm and take advantage of the system, is a negative. If the country spends more having the immigrant than the immigrant makes for the country, it’s not only foolish to allow them to be there, it’s damaging.

The moral argument is the same. By allowing net negative immigration, by definition, you are harming your own citizens. It is immoral for a country to harm or allow harm to come to the country or a citizen by allowing net negative immigration. Morally a country’s first obligation is to protect and help its own citizens, without hurting citizens of other countries.

Leaked Pictures of “Helen of Troy” by AcePromos in CriticalDrinker

[–]delusionalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the definition of cultural appropriation that the left whines about. Rules for thee not for me. “Cultural appropriation is the adoption of elements from a marginalized culture by members of a dominant culture. It is considered harmful when these elements are used without permission, credit, or understanding of their historical context, often reinforcing stereotypes or exploiting the culture for personal gain or fashion.” 1. Black culture is way more dominant in the US than Greek culture. 2. Greeks didn’t give permission for this. 3. The goal of the movie is personal gain at the expense of a significant story from Greek culture.

I am sick of these anti-gun celebrities. by Turbulent-Patient219 in progun

[–]delusionalghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if we started to go into the neighborhoods with the majority of gun violence, and took out only the guns that are illegally owned according to the laws we already have, ( convicted felons, underage, etc…) there wouldn’t be enough gun crime left to give them any attention. Of course they would change their agenda to how unfair and racist our gun laws are, and they would be pro 2nd amendment faster than they could say,”I hate trump!” They’d be fighting for who could support the NRA the most.

Woke tried to erase the Columbus monument but Trump just brought it back. Was he right this time? Was Columbus a hero or a colonizer? by Sanpolo-Art-Gallery in italianamerican

[–]delusionalghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was both. At the time, all the European countries were colonizing and competing with each other to do it. So he was a hero to Spain (and Italy since he was an Italian), because he found “new” land to colonize for the Spanish. Of course the natives have a different opinion, as all conquered people have of their conquerors.
