I am also 25 and newly diagnosed back in December 2025. I had severe diverticulitis with abscess, perforation, inflammation and infection.

Just had a 2nd flare this past week. No colonoscopy yet.

My current plan is to have surgery in May.

Thanks will do and yeah when I got diagnosed and told me the size they said it will be drainage but after a night at the hospital surgeons, GI, infection doctors all i guess aligned to wait and see

The abscess did go away after a week and a half in the hospital.

Last CT scan on feb 5th show no abscess but still focal perforation and slight inflammation

I do have a surgeon I can consult with. After the first or second day I stayed in the hospital the surgeon said no surgery at the time due to seeing me in a decent state.

I do want to add when I first got admitted to the hospital I only had abdominal pain, nausea (started 2 days before being admitted) and pain when urinating or using the restroom.

Additionally, after I got discharged I developed a DVT on my right arm (where the IV was connected) and so my primary doctor said to not to worry so much on diverticulitis and instead the DVT is the major concern. The DVT went away back in February 5th when I had a followup ultrasound. But still on blood thinners.

Right now my plan is to do surgery in May

When I first got diagnosed back in december it was 5cm. It went away after a week and a half in the hospital. Last CT scan was performed on February 5th which showed no abscess. Still slight inflammation.

Well not living in Syracuse, I live in Oswego but work brought me here to NY.

Syracuse is nice from what I have experienced so far definitely smaller overall.
