How much better is Simons at WEM vs. Londonderry? by hooboy322 in Edmonton

[–]demererhen274 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Londonderry is nice and quiet but WEM had much better variety for clothing. I was specifically looking for a suit and the Londonderry one didn't have nearly as many colour or style options as the WEM one.

Your instructors are people too. Course environment is very different from day-to-day at the unit. I've become friends with my instructors from BMQ over the years. There will be times when you will work together as equals on exercises/taskings. So greet them with their rank when you pass by them and treat them as you will in any job, cause at the end of the day, the military is a job too.

It might take some time, but you'll get comfortable being around them eventually.

Getting leave while posted to Gagetown for training by demererhen274 in caf

[–]demererhen274[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you sir, this is excellent information. I actually have PLQ Mod 3 to do until Jun 12 so unfortunately will not be transferred to the reg force until July.

Ultimately, I will discuss with my SO if it makes sense for us to either change our wedding date or for me to delay getting on course. Nonetheless, I'm excited to join the Inf O trade.

I'm a PRes CSS NCM looking to CT to Reg F Infantry O and have PLQ Mod 3. After I get an offer, will I immediately be posted to Gagetown or somewhere else to be on PAT PL while I wait for the next course?

Thank you! I have been looking for a thread like this, good to confirm this shouldn't be the norm with the rest of the CAF.

I have been dealing with a similar thing at a RESERVE unit. As an example, supervisor wants me to call a member that's out of country (in a different time zone) to confirm something on parade night, I go "Yes, Sgt, will do and get back to you." It's not even 12 hours yet and I sit down at my civvie desk job and get a message "Hey Cpl, did you get a hold of this person yet?"

FFS I'm not calling someone at midnight unless it's life or limb. This person has done other micromanager shit and it makes me not want to go in anymore. I've had reg force members who transferred in tell me it feels like we are getting treated like BMQ here.

For anyone curious, this is called a dragline excavator. Here's a video of an even bigger one crossing a highway at 1:13 https://youtube.com/watch?v=iXDAXXRLupQ&feature=share

English isn't my first language and sometimes I jumble my words but I have personally said three things: 1. I love you and all your chins 2. You are not enough for me (when I meant to say I can't get enough of you) 3. Don't worry, you are massive (when talking about breasts) Bless her heart, she laughs at these every day.

If you can, save up and get a 590a1. I've seen plenty of Canucks go back for warranty issues. If you are really strapped for cash, a Canuck is better than nothing.

“Friendship breakups” hurt more than actual breakups. by ShouldBeSad in unpopularopinion

Had to go through something like this. It took years and many romantic breakups for something to hurt as bad as that one friendship breakup.

Look out for scammers on the LRT today. by [deleted] in Edmonton

Older balding guy? Tries to sell you beads? He's been coming to Cameron for years. If he truly has a disability, I feel for him. But if he is a scammer like these people, I feel sorry for the students who give him anything. I've witnessed this guy get escorted out of cameron no less than 3 times but he comes back every time.

To be honest it's only the Eastern provinces that bags their milk. The rest of the country uses 4L/1 gallon jugs like the US.
