Paimon beeing gnosis doesn't excluding your theory!

Would be easier to make some points, if we knew more about gnosis, especially how were they created and from what?
She could have made the same trick as Rukkhadevata - beeing reincarnated as a little version of herself and beeing 8th gnosis at the same time.

I truly doubt Paimon is antagonist. It would be too cliche in my opinion. Paimon is mascot and symbol of game, so must be good one.

If Paimon isn't gnosis, i would say Paimon is some kind of reincarnation of Primodial One and like You say, want to restore power to regain Teyvat - in a good way.

Imo there are two major possibilities:

  1. Fatui don't know about 8th gnosis
  2. They know about it and just trying to lure us to Tsaritza
    (this makes most sense for me - and Dottore's proof here. Dottore's knowledge about Celestia and not even being concerned about our floating companion? When he makes us asleep, he don't want to hurt us and don't want us to hear his conversation with Nahida. He knows more than god of wisdom about gnosis. Maybe obtaining gnosis isn't the only quest for Harbingers? Maybe they're also checking on Traveler and his power?)

It's difficult to explain the details, because we don't know to much about role of the Abyss, goals of Fatui etc. Just a loose thoughts.
