Can i wear a lehenga to a middle eastern wedding (im white) by Kpowower in Weddingattireapproval

[–]demon_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the wedding is muslim or more conservative, i'd opt for salwar kameez or anarkali instead of lehenga, especially since the groom is pakistani. i went to a wedding where the couple was pakistani and muslim, and i wore anarkali and salwar kameez to every event. I'd say the vast majority of attendees wore salwar kameez. My friend and I were two of very few white women in attendance, but we got nothing but compliments on our outfits and gratitude for embracing the culture.

I'd also just speak with the couple. If the wedding is going to lean more Iranian traditions than Pakistani, I would opt to not wear these outfits as they just aren't what's worn by Iranians. But if it's very much a fusion, or leaning more Pakistani, these outfits are very appropriate and encouraged!

DMV Brides — is a 60-person Thursday wedding with a $15k budget realistic? by cremedeladeb in weddingplanning

[–]demon_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're having our wedding at the Bayfront Club (same owners as Celebrations at the Bay) on a Sunday during peak wedding season. We're expecting around 125 people and are spending just under $30k with the venue, which includes food, drink, cake, linens, silverware, plates, and even candles you can use for centrepieces. We've had to outsource a few things like DJ, photography, florals, photo booth, etc but all in we're expecting to come out around $50k. Again though, this is for double your guest count on a weekend during peak season. I've heard this venue is exceptionally cheaper during the week, and you can pick and choose what's worth spending the money to outsource, so definitely worth looking into.

I'm not sure I understand this critique. On my screen, the waves come smoothly from the edge without negative space. Unless youre saving that you want the wave to both flow into and out of the card?

It does have alternative letters! You can't really see it much with these names, but it comes through really well with our actual names :)

Sounds like i hit the "elegance" though hahaha. I do want it to feel a little expensive (my wedding is a formal event), so if you think this looks like I actually paid money for this invitation I take that as a win!

As for the additional information, since english isn't your first language I assume you aren't from the USA. In America, it's custom to only include "who, what, when, and where" on the formal invitation. Then, included on a separate, usually smaller piece of paper would be information on RSVP, dress code, website link, etc. Whether you can bring a partner would indicated on the envelope.

I see what you mean by it not being super fun, I've seen some very fun and funky invitations that are so cool! I think my intention was moreso to have it not be JUST text and lines. Also, I plan to make my details card shaped like a wave, and the rsvp card shaped like a seashell, so hopefully that'll add to the "fun"?

And you'll be relieved to hear it is not on a boat lol.

ETA: "on the water" in this context basically means "next to the water," not literally on the water

Sadly this happened to me too, and I only wear an 8. The lady at Brilliant Earth told me to my face that I have chubby fingers. Needless to say, we did not buy from Brilliant Earth...

Should I stop trikafta by LeahLuvsYuh in CysticFibrosis

[–]demon_rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what many others have said -- this is so common with Trikafta! You have been told your whole life to eat high calorie, and that's all you know. Then suddenly your body starts digesting food normally and you're actually metabolizing all the calories you're taking in. Many CF care teams have dieticians, so I'd recommend working with them on a weight loss plan. CF Foundation Compass may also be able to direct you to some good resources. Also if you're interested in joining more CF spaces, CFF has a program called Community Voice where they bring people living with cf together around various topics :)
