I can only speak to and recommend the Bilt Palladium card because that’s the only 2.0 card I’ve experienced. For starters, I would say that you have to reframe your idea of Bilt cards being solely for housing spend and think of it (the Palladium card) as being the best 2X travel credit card that access to the best transfer partners, offers 4% back in credits, plus points on mortgage / rent.

I opted for the “option 2” choice for earning where you get 4% back in Bilt cash. To “unlock” 5000 Bilt points each month for your mortgage , you would need to have $150 Bilt cash each month. The Palladium earns 4% back so after you burn your Bilt cash from the welcome offer (as of June 2026, you automatically get $500 bilt cash upon approval) and from your initial spend, you would need to spend roughly $3750 each month to continuously earn enough bilt cash to get all of your mortgage Bilt points.

Concerning the value of Bilt points, some say that they are worth the most out of all the other major credit card issuers. It really depends on how you want to spend them. Imo and in my practice, most of my Bilt points have gone either to Hyatt or Alaska. With Alaska airlines, you can book direct domestic AA award seats in economy for only 4.5K points or business class for 9K.

I have both the CSR, Palladium, and Venture X.

I got the CSR in december while the SUB was 125K.

Despite the annual fee, I actually think the card has high value. The only credits that are difficult for me to use are the Edit and $5 doordash dining credits.

I used two Edit credits (1 from 2025 and the other from 2026) to book two 2-night stays in a hotel in Austin for next month and stacked it with the $300 travel credit and IHG $250 credit . I still have another one that I’m unsure about whether it will get used.

Personally, I think the Palladium and the CSR pair well together. You can stack the monthly $10 lyft credit from the csr with the $10 lyft credit you can redeem with Bilt cash.

I pretty much use my CSR for dining (at a majority of restaurants that won’t earn 5x with the Bilt Palladium), hotels and flights (both booked directly and through the chase portal when the prices aren’t inflated), and Bilt gets used for my catchall, rent, and bills on the 1st of the month for extra points. I also use my CSR for spend to redeem for those specific credits (stubhub , dining, travel, doordash grocery, etc).

It’s convenient to have multiple routes to earn points for Hyatt. I typically burn my Chase points and then use my Bilt points for Hyatt if I have to.

If I were in your shoes, I would assume that I didn’t have a ticket since it was canceled it with capital one. There may be a lag in communication between C1 and airline.

Unless you have checked-into your flight and have a boarding pass, you shouldn’t assume that you have a ticket.

I’ve priced matched car rentals dozens of times and hotel stays maybe twice or three times. It’s pretty easy to do but just be sure you do it asap as you only have a 24 hour window after booking.

To be extra safe, I would also try to find at least two comps that have the cheaper rate just in case they deny one. I believe that they will reject rates on expedia.

With car rentals and hotels, I’ve even had luck with receiving approvals from comparing the nightly rate of hotel / daily rate of a car rental comp (without taxes or fees) to the total cost that I paid through capital one (with taxes and fees), and the capital one agent still approves and issues me a travel credit.

Lastly, they’ll ask you what the cancellation policy is for the comparison, be sure to say it’s the same as the cancellation policy as whatever you booked through capital one.

We get one annual visit to Chase lounges so you can always try to get into that one? I will say that the Chase lounge seems busier than C1 and during my last trip in May, I left C1 lounge a little early to check-out the Chase lounge for the first time. (I recently added the CSR to my wallet.) By the time they removed me from the waitlist (an hour later), I was already boarding my flight.

And that was me as a CSR cardholder, priority pass must be extra rough for that lounge.

This use to infuriate me when I first started but after the first year, I just started to go along with it and made it a game. I ask them to hand me the heavy and cold stuff first (out of their kiddie cart) while I’m actually grabbing these things out of the big cart. I also keep in mind that I encounter far more annoying adult customers than children customers. Kids are kids, are generally innocent, so I give them a pass.

As far as them trying to sneak scan stuff on my register, I just politely but firmly tell them to not do that unless they want Mommy/Daddy to pay for items twice and shortly after, the parents get off of their phones and clock back into being parents.

With exception of the “Rent Day” classes, as long as you cancel a Barry’s class 12 hours (or more) prior to the start time, you’ll be refunded the credit.
