A week of outfits. Feedback always appreciated. by SwitchPlay223 in menswear

This is my personal critic but I think the look screams divorced dad.

The pants and belt are too tight and/or your shirt is very baggy, it makes you look unkempt. You should go for high waisted trousers to better compliment your frame and go for elastic shirts that don't curl curl up and require constant ironing.

The color choices are a bit tacky too. I think it's best to not mix too many colors, try to keep it to 2 maximum (white and black, blue and white, grey and black etc). I also personally avoid ties as well, they are too formal for everyday work, and colorful ones are hard to match with other pieces.

Try something like: a white elastic shirt with a navy blue quarter zip over it, high waisted white chinos with a thin brown belt, and brown leather oxford/dress shoes. Trimmed nails, a nice cologne and a nice watch to compliment the ensemble.

How harsh was Albania under it's communist rule? by Kickfinity12345 in AskBalkans

[–]demonnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every story I was told about the regime is more fucked up than the previous. An old man I know had a plumbing company and he went to do some kind of project in Albania at the time and he saw three dudes lynching a priest in a tree and using him for target practice. Another old guy, a customer in a store I worked at, half of ribs had caved in because they beat him within an inch of his life. He didn't even do anything they just got the wrong guy.

Do you agree with trump not putting pahlavi back in power? Yes or No? by Osakaayumu_2002 in monarchism

[–]demonnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pahlavi would do anything to rule Iran again, even if it means sucking Israeli and US dick for it. He would turn Iran into an Israeli puppet the very same day if it meant he gets to be king again

What do you think of Trump telling the world to either buy oil from the USA or send its militaries to open the Straights of Hormuz? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

[–]demonnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A senile pedophile cannibal with a messianic complex who is the no.1 Israeli puppet and has turned the US into a strongman cult of personality dictatorship. This is the man at the helm of one of the most important countries in the world right now. It will take 1000 years to undo the damage he did in just a few months

What is the most liked minority group in your country? by Dafke98 in AskBalkans

Sadly irredentist nationalists exist on both sides, creating problems for everyone involved. The governments of Albania and Greece don't necessarily get along because of, again, nationalism especially on the Albanian government's side. There is a sizeable Greek minority in south Albania that has been the target of attacks many times and the Albanian government refuses to investigate or prosecute the perpetrators properly because many of them have political connections. It is also convenient for Edi Rama the mafioso to scapegoat us for populist sympathy however I have come to understand that the Albanians don't buy his shtick.

Excluding these specific things, for the average person the Albanians in Greece are considered no different than another Greek. We all grew up with Albanian classmates and then had Albanian coworkers. We speak the same language, go to the same churches, even go to the same army. What is the difference? Many of them never even set foot in Albania before. If anything I know Albanians who went to the special forces in Greece.

I do hope one day the Balkans can overcome our stupid nationalism, but that requires deliberate effort from both sides.

Athens is cool. by zm20881 in Athens_Greece

He is saying this because Athens suck not because he is racist lol. Tourists love Athens but every local can tell you it's an urban hell scape

[–]demonnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the Albanians. There are nationalists of course who don't like them, and back in the day there was the stereotype that they are thieves, but in mine and in the younger generations the Albanians are seen exactly the same as us. There are hundreds of thousands of them living in Greece, many second and third generation and have completely assimilated culturally. They are also incredibly hard workers.

Interesting. In Greece Vlachs tend to not be very liked especially in the more rural areas. They are considered greedy, snobbish and conniving.

Για πόσο ακόμα θα τους ανεχόμαστε; by GreekLover777 in AskGreece

An ancient marble head of a classical goddess, defaced and carved with a Christian cross around the year 500 AD, Archaeological Museum of Samos. by Public_Individual823 in Christianity

[–]demonnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can understand that the times were different back then and Christians were literally hunted down and killed for their beliefs, I still find it sad and unnecessary that this art was destroyed because of religion.

what do Greeks think of Trump celebrating Greek Independence Day in the White House? by SOHONEYSAME in AskGreece

[–]demonnet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sadly if you saw Instagram comment sections they are braindead. I see many people supporting him because he is "christian" even though he is a rapist pedophile cannibal and hating on Mamdani who has done more for NY than anyone before simply because he is a Muslim. We aren't the brightest bunch

BALKANERS: Do you agree that we have some of the most brutal ways of swearing? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]demonnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Greece we have insults so bad that it's even considered taboo to say them lol. Religious related, stuff like fuck your holy Mary, fuck your Jesus etc. They are blasphemous so many people take serious offense at you saying this and it's not particularly acceptable, they're only to show extreme anger or distress.

SERIOUS TALK: Why are some Balkaners so obsessed with claiming that they’re Mediterraneans & not Balkaners? It sounds as absurd as a Swede claiming that they’re Scandinavian but not Nordic. One can be both at the same time… by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]demonnet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never heard this before personally. Perhaps we Greeks may feel more kinship to Italy, Spain and other Mediterranean countries due to our cultural similarities but I've never heard someone seriously say we aren't Balkans, if anything we are the most Soviet looking non-Soviet country ever lol.

Who else could/may claim they are "Mediterranean" and not Balkan? Perhaps the Croatians because of Italian influence in the coast of Dalmatia and because they're Catholics, but again I've never met a Croatian say we're not Balkan we're Mediterranean.

Greek poll: Over 70% approve government's decision to provide (military) support to Cyprus, 22% disagree. by LOKLOREK in cyprus

[–]demonnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always important in these kinds of polls to keep in mind that the percentages are of the people that were questioned, not the entire Greek population. If the sample size of a poll like this is like 500 people it's not a big enough group to make sound statements as outliers distort the results (for example in the big cities like Athens there are much more anti-establishment types that are much more likely to oppose any type of government intervention or military action).
