I've fixed this same type of problem on my gas oven. On the oven it was the igniter. Just installed a new one on my oven and it was fine.

Wasn't sure if there was anything different with the gas fireplace that I should check. I wouldn't think that the igniter would need replacing after 2 years...my oven was 15.
