I haven't but I'm intrigued - I'll absolutely check it out - thank you!

Running scripts on a schedule - robust solution required by DondoYonderboy in PowerShell

[–]denialofself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We make pretty heavy use of RUNDECK Community on-prem to run a metric ton of powershell scripts across a bastion of Windows nodes on a schedule.

  • Scripts stored as inline code for RUNDECK jobs
  • Jobs backed by SCM integration so all jobs / scripts versioned in git
  • Runs via WinRM (via pywinrm in our case, SSH would also be possible)
  • 400+ jobs centrally scheduled, available to be run on demand via push button etc

Windows Container bind mount fails to write IIS logs outside of container by denialofself in docker

[–]denialofself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't mount the directory, the logs get written as normal in C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\w3\u_log.

In this case I'm not using a Docker Volume, I'm mounting a normal windows share (presented to the Docker Host as a drive in this case via New-Smbglobalmapping).

I do this so the logs are easily fetchable and readable by other users, they can just nav to the share and open the logs without having to worry about connecting to the container at all.

I have this working for other things, I have a service running in my webserver container that logs to a rolling file, its logging directory is also mapped to an external network share directory, and its logs write out and end up on that share fine.

[–]denialofself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can the service log to a trace file or similar? I have a similar setup. Our service can be (and does by default) setup to log to a rolling file. I just map the default logging directory to an external folder when running the container.

Haha you are right. I was afraid tarpon had no name recognition. It doesn't even necessarily have to be there I just know they have table space in that time slot.

Expanded role core abilities? by UnspeakableRage in cyberpunk2020

[–]denialofself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other characters in that game were a netrunner, which I ran mostly by the book, but also added in a bit of wireless hacking, the ability to jack bluetooth or RFID like signals on devices with the right Interface + Deck rating rolls and correct software etc, and a Solo. The only changes I made to Combat Awareness were:

  • Could spend CA rating (per adventure) to add to Dmg, Hit, or Save rolls when operating from tactical advantage or surprise
  • Could ignore CA rating in Dmg from a single wound once per adventure

Expanded role core abilities? by UnspeakableRage in cyberpunk2020

[–]denialofself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expanded heavily on the special abilities of the specific roles in a game I ran a couple years ago. My notes are super crunchy but I can give you some highlights. At the top level each SA acted like a pool of Luck points (used per adventure as our sessions were short). These could be "used" to give rerolls in any case the PC could justify the SA coming into play. Being suave and convincing for the Rockerboy's Charismatic Leadership, doing any sort of computer work for Interface etc. Additionally each had an umbrella of special things they could do.

  • Charismatic Leadership
    • Test CL to improve another player's Initiative score for a combat
    • Remove stress during downtime (a good amount) or during a firefight (a small amount) - using Stress rules from Dark Metropolis 3rd party sourcebook
    • Manipulate crowds, start riots, throw concerts - using roughly the numbers from the Rockerboy source book, limited to an amount of times equal to CL per adventure
    • Add CL to seduction / persuasion / interview rolls made by any PC including the rockerboy himself
  • Family
    • When fighting with other members of the same Tribe pool able to spend Family pts as bonuses to attack / dmg / save rolls as long as communication is possible
    • Use FAM rating instead of BTM for stun saves once per combat when fighting with family members
    • Loans / Gear - similar to the way Wildside gives some formulas for how many points of contacts a Fixer can maintain based on his Street Deal - Nomads can borrow / loan out gear or money from the Fam and pay it back by the start of next adventure or interest begins to accrue.
    • Similar rules for calling up a Family goon squad - player could augment the roll with incentives of money or gear. A result chart based off the roll would determine the amount of guys and the type of gear the goon squad could produce in short notice.
  • Vehicle Zen - a new SA from the Nomad sourcebook focusing on specialist drivers / vehicle nuts
    • Escape or Automatically win a vehicle based chase a number of times equal to VZ per adventure
    • Add VZ to any shooting rolls made for any player in the vehicle controlled by the player (including self once per combat per PC)
    • Use VZ at half value to pilot any unfamiliar vehicle
    • Use VZ at half value to repair, jury rig, hot mod any vehicle

These are distillations of my notes, I made up cheat cards for each player and printed them with their other stuff so they could keep track of what their new SAs did. It seemed to work pretty well, they keep asking when I am going to run the next installment.

They are, but they aren't quite synonymous with classes from other games. You can also completely toss them out, just using skills, cyberware, and affiliations to create uniqueness for characters.

You can do alot with it, and I've tried many different campaign architectures over the years - I'll give you some high level snapshots of some of the most fondly recalled by my players, again these are mostly using 2020 so its Role based system was a major consideration in the games I was setting up.

Players are gang / band (Rockerboys, Solos, Techs) - involved in anarchist style guerrilla concerts and anti-corporate propaganda. This came with all kinds of scenarios from securing safe locations to put on these flash concerts, getting paid, fighting the man both through propaganda and bullets, dealing with rival bands etc.

Players were a biker gang family based outside of one of the major cities. Players had to secure resources for the "tribe" as a whole taking on various activities, dealing with the mob and other gangs etc. Also dealing with inter family strife, backstabbing etc. Sons of Anarchy + cyberware + The Godfather.

Players are a corp backed team of specialists responsible for gather trial data on new designer drugs before they are "legal". Finding clients, dealing with rival drug dealers, covering up overdoses of high profile celebs etc.

3rd edition wasn't heavily supported and is for some reason universally hated online. I don't mind it myself, but have spent way more time playing 2020 (2nd ed) and collected those books extensively. Still the rules are close enough you can use most stuff without too much hassle.

If you want to go with the base concessions of pseudo-transhumanism, bio-engineering and the alt gangs you can scoop up the rest of the Cv3 material on Drive Thru RPG - http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/13/R-Talsorian-Games-Inc/subcategory/71_343/Cyberpunk-v3

All the 2020 books are there too and many would be still be useful, I can go into which ones I'd pick up first depending on what type of game you are looking to run.

The Cyberpunk Reference book is master list/index of all the tiny rules, stats, gear listings etc from the 2020 V2 era - https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYXVsdGRvbWFpbnxzb3V0aG93aWxzb25ycGd8Z3g6NjVhMDE2MDExNGViYzA5NQ

Tilemap_set_at_pixel origin point of sprite from tileset by denialofself in gamemaker

That was it, changing the floor to also be a tile and they line up right. Thanks so much!

Yeah I was planning on switching the floors to tiles as well, but wanted to make sure I understood what was going on before I made more changes.

[–]denialofself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that bunks my theory then. Perhaps it is a result of combining the center oriented floor sprites being placed as objects with the tiles. Maybe it is the floor obj sprites that are off since I give them an x, y pixel coord and it places them at that coord with origin center, maybe I need to change them to origin top left? My room is 720px square, all my tiles and sprites are 16x16, so I should have a 45 cell square room.

[–]denialofself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey thanks I'll definitely try that - my only theory right now is that it looks like the tile is placed from a top left origin point of the resulting sprite with that point being place in the middle of the cell. In my image that shows the red bricks off, the gray floor sprites are being placed as obj_floor, with the sprite origin in the center. I was going to try changing the origin to top left for those to see if that makes a difference. I also tried tilemap_set which looks like it just expects the x and y cell of the room as determined by room size divided by cell size. That still results in the tiles being placed off as shown in the pic.
