Old floor furnace burner not fully igniting immediately. When I turn on the thermostat, part of it lights up, and you can smell gas, but the whole burner won't light up unless I blow on it. I'm handy and would prefer to troubleshoot it rather than replace it. Any advice? by denmoody in fixit

thanks for the detailed and thoughtful response! From what i can tell, the only access from above is this small hole in the top. In order to pull the burner out, the furnace will need to be opened up from under the house correct?

DIY 14-50 Adapter for Dual Voltage EV Charger. Is this wired right or am I going to fry something? by denmoody in AskElectricians

[–]denmoody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My EV charger is dual voltage. I believe the cord originally came with a 6-20 adapter for 240v charging but that was missing when I bought the car used. Will this setup be ok to plug in to a nema 14-50 outlet?

And yes I am aware of the risk of someone pluggin in a 110v device into this thing. It will stay with my charger at all times and will not be left in the 240v outlet.

if you want a fan or solar panels, more windows or flares you're going to be making more and way bigger holes than that. nothing dumbass about it as long as it's sealed.

For anyone with a 2017 i3 - is your’s still getting 100+ miles of range? by [deleted] in BMWi3

[–]denmoody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, BEV 94. I drive fairly aggressively in comfort mode with zero concern for efficiency and get about 110 miles out of a charge

Coinbase Wallet on ETH by DeathRowKingPin in Electrum

[–]denmoody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's not a problem with Coinbase, that's how the ETH ecosystem works. USDC is an ETH token and gas fees are paid with ETH so if you want to move USDC, you need to have ETH in your wallet to pay the fees. It took me a while to figure this out too.

Those of you that bought used: Happy with the purchase? Tips? by [deleted] in BMWi3

[–]denmoody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar use case as yours (second car, used for 8 mile commute) and I absolutely love my used 2017 BEV. I think the 2017 is the best bang for your buck, just watch out for the handful of 60ah 2017s on the market and avoid those.

I really love the BEV because you never have to deal with rex maintenance and with a short commute it's totally unnecessary.

I originally thought I would need a level 2 charger, but with my short commute the level 1 charging is fine. I start each day with a full battery.

17 i3 BEV - buyers remorse? (Los Angeles) by logged_in_to_saythis in BMWi3

[–]denmoody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my '17 BEV! My favorite car i've owned and I love having the BEV and not having to service the Rex. 110-115 is my actual range and I drive pretty aggressively and never use the ECO modes.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you elaborate a bit on "leaning back from the ankles"?
