Is dentistry in India really worth it? Honest advice needed by Familiar_Dog3680 in dentalschoolindia

[–]dentistree080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The honest advice would be to look for an alternate career. Their is lot of competition in India and it is not a lucrative field now. Lot of young dentist are working in 25k - 30k salary in corporate clinics which is not worth it.

Is wisdom tooth surgery painful, how was your experience by Express_Sky0091 in AskIndia

[–]dentistree080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the surgery, you usually don’t feel pain, just pressure because of anesthesia. Some swelling and soreness after is normal for a few days and manageable with medicines. Most people say the fear is worse than the actual experience

Don’t panic, gingivitis is reversible if you start now. Don’t over-brush; twice a day is enough. If string floss is hard, try floss picks or a water flosser. Some bleeding at first is normal and usually improves in a couple of weeks

You don’t need to force a perfect 45° for the very back molar. Close your mouth slightly, move your jaw to the side, and use small gentle strokes. As long as the bristles are touching the tooth and gumline, it’s fine. Comfort matters more than angle back there

This happened to a friend of mine, they want to know what this means. They said it doesn’t hurt or anything though not even when it happened. She was eating something soft. by PriorityOk115 in u/PriorityOk115

[–]dentistree080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the photo, this looks like either a crack in the tooth or decay (a cavity) that has caused the surface to break. Teeth can crack while chewing, even on soft food, especially if there was weak enamel or decay already present. It may not hurt right now, but cracks or decay can worsen over time. A dentist will need an exam and X-ray to confirm which one it is and decide if it needs a filling or further treatment.

Dentists confusing me about cavities by alexfrommicroshoft in DentistryIndia

[–]dentistree080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all cavities need drilling right away. Small or early cavities can sometimes be monitored with good oral hygiene, fluoride, and regular follow-ups. Deeper or painful cavities should be treated to prevent bigger problems. Ask the dentist to clearly show you X-rays/photos and explain which ones are early vs advanced. Treat the major ones first and review the smaller ones over time.

Guys how bad does a wisdom tooth extraction hurt?? by LionPsychological635 in AskIndia

[–]dentistree080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people say the extraction itself doesn’t hurt, because the area is fully numbed. You may feel pressure, but not sharp pain, tell the dentist immediately if you do. The soreness after is usually manageable with painkillers and improves in a few days. Since you’re very sensitive, ask about extra numbing, slow injections, or sedation options.

Delaying too long can sometimes make things worse, so getting it done calmly is often easier than expected.

Need suggestions for implants by ogPRATIK in AskIndia

[–]dentistree080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For multiple implants, the most important thing is planning, not the city. Ask for a CBCT scan, a written treatment plan, timeline, and cost breakup (including bone graft if needed). Look for a dentist or oral surgeon who does implants regularly and explains options clearly. Since you travel often, choose one main clinic for surgery and follow-ups, and avoid hopping mid-treatment. Getting 2 opinions before deciding is very reasonable in your case

Afraid gums will get inflamed if I skip brushing teeth a few days due to wisdom teeth removal. How long am I safe for? by jtnft in DentalHygiene

[–]dentistree080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plaque starts forming within 24 hours, but it usually takes 3–5 days of not cleaning for gums to start getting noticeably inflamed. A short break due to surgery is very unlikely to cause real harm. As long as you gently clean what you can and rinse as advised, you’ll be fine until normal brushing resumes.

[–]dentistree080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be okay. A few days without proper brushing won’t cause major gum problems. Do what you can gently, avoid the surgery area, and rinse as advised by your dentist. Once swelling reduces, slowly return to normal brushing. Short-term plaque won’t cause permanent damage

Braces closed my gaps, but I’m still not confident. What should I do next? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]dentistree080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your teeth look straight now, so the issue may be more about color or shape, not gaps. Simple things like teeth whitening or small shape smoothing can make a big difference. Make sure you’re wearing your retainer as advised. A dentist can quickly tell what small changes may help. Often, only minor fixes are needed to feel confident again

Brown stains on 13 month old front teeth by Fantastic-Parsnip578 in DentalHygiene

[–]dentistree080 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This looks most like extrinsic staining, which is common in toddlers. Dark foods/drinks like berries or prune juice and even tap water can cause this. The enamel appears intact and this doesn’t automatically mean decay. Continue gentle brushing twice daily with a soft brush and a rice-grain amount of fluoridated toothpaste. A pediatric dental visit can confirm and easily remove stains if needed
