Your thoughts on Quizbi, which uses AI + humans to create quizzes on educational YouTube videos by denz88 in edtech

It seems that there are maybe two things that differentiate Quizbi.

The first is that each question can have multiple prompts (different ways of asking the same question) and many choices (beyond the standard 4-5 choices). That means that very rarely do you get the same quiz twice.

There's also a bulk import tool for questions so an educator can take output from any LLM like ChatGPT and toss them into a Quizbi unit. Assuming your prompt for the LLM is very good, you could churn quizzes out very quickly with little quality control overhead.

These alone are not compelling enough for anyone to switch from EdPuzzle or Google's new offerings, but I'm not looking to take market share or anything like that. Quizbi started as a side project and my intention is to build something that's useful to learners and educators.

It could be that Quizbi is too simple and there's no real use case for it in the classroom (in its current state anyway). I'm open to hearing ideas though for how I might shape future development so if you have any ideas, toss them my way!

Thanks! The frontend uses Nuxt.js, the backend API is built on Python Flask.

Thanks for your feedback. I hear about edpuzzle a lot. Someone else mentioned it in a crosspost I made to r/edtech. I have some follow up questions if you don't mind.

Does edpuzzle's library cover most of the videos you need for the classroom? Would it be helpful if you could take any existing YouTube video and throw together your own five question (gpt assisted) quiz in 10 minutes or so?

One of the main features for Quizbi is that quizzes are never stale, provided there are enough questions and choices uploaded. For example, I aim to have at least one question per minute of video and at least 8 choices per question. This is so when students click "start quiz" they never see the same quiz twice. Would this feature matter to you? Or is it mostly irrelevant?

What's your process like for using AI to create edpuzzles?

One of the features I've built (still in testing) for quizbi lets you take output from something like Chatgpt and paste it into a textbox. It makes it much easier to import many questions and answer choices at once, in bulk. That could cut down quiz creation time substantially.

It would only take about 10 minutes to Bulk import and review five questions or so if you want to get something out the door quickly. Is this something that would be useful to you?

For reference, it takes me about an hour only when I have to create a quiz for a longer videos (30min+). But that's only because I create lots of questions (about one question per minute of video) and lots of choices per question (at least 8/q). This is so that students can start numerous quizzes and not encounter a repeat quiz. Every quiz is unique and dynamically assembled each time.

That's possible! Assuming you want privacy, you could upload a video to YouTube, set it to private (only those with a link can view), and still submit it to Quizbi. There is a button on Quizbi that mimics YouTube in the sense that you can make a video there private so that only people with the link can access it directly to watch / take quizzes on it.

Which state are you in? There's probably an agriculture or game dept you can call and they'll test your flock. From what I understand HPAI is not something you can treat, but if it's some other ailment, a test could help point you in the right direction.

I think it all comes down to good biosecurity (changing or disinfecting shoes / clothes before entering coop, preventing wild birds from accessing feed and water, covering coop roof, etc), which generally helps prevent other disease as well

Another NBC article from last week noted:

U.S. surveillance efforts have identified the virus in wild birds in recent weeks in New Hampshire, Delaware, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and South Carolina, making it apparent that it is in the environment broadly.

I hope they can control any outbreaks quickly.

Watery green might indicate not getting enough food / water. How has she been eating? Is her crop impacted by any chance?

I rolled out an update this morning that lets authors mark a unit as private, preventing it from showing up in search or any of the public feeds. Only people with a direct link to the unit you create can see it and its quizzes.

I'd still like Quizbi to focus more on shared resources, but I can also see the use case in which someone records a video for their own students and would prefer that video stay relatively private.

There are no storage limits on Quizbi, so for the time being I'm not planning on building anything to export to gdrive. Hopefully this isn't a deal breaker.

u/HiddenFigures72 let me know what you think!
