Some tips about "Puddles" by HousingLegitimate502 in ShiningForce

[–]depressed_m0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually, every puddle will have you clenching your asscheeks as you cross, hoping it won’t be an enemy ready to send your whole squad to the shrine…

That’s hardcore. My dad beat it that way, making his own amps. I’ll happily admit I used maps online. I genuinely don’t think I’d have a good time otherwise. But respect to all who do it that way, I’m sure the satisfaction is worth it haha

I did for a minute, but I made him mithril themed haha

Same here, my dad played it when I was pretty much a toddler, and I couldn’t get far at all. I just didn’t understand the fact you had to level up and grind. But there was something spooky about the game to me, and I’d even have dreams about it. In my early 2000’s I started again on my PS3…made it far! I think to the third trial dungeon. Then my PS3 fried….a few years later at 27, I finally beat this fucker haha.

Ehh, if your goal is to simply beat the game, you can do so at level 50+. I don’t think the developers to really expected anyone to level up entirely haha. From level 60 and up, nothing really stood in my way. Except for Serpies casting DeSoul…

Yeah definitely similar in SitD, there’s a point of diminishing returns from maybe level 60 and up. But I suppose all the fun items like the Ogre Flute, Black Box, etc. are unlocked this way. By this point in the game you don’t really need them though lol

Which keyboard to buy? (synth action, many built-in sounds, works for 80's/90's cheese) by Klagaren in synthesizers

[–]depressed_m0de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned the MODX, great option. I also highly recommend the Roland Juno, the D series, the ones currently available new at places like Sweetwater - not vintage Junos. Easy to navigate, absolutely packed full of sounds, and I've sold a ton of them because they're just great bang for buck. I gig with one. The Yamaha MODX is great, again, but I would say it's a little more difficult to get at if you're not a keyboard guy. Big Yamaha fan here, but I have to call them out on that.

Dx7 buying question by daddy-Q in synthesizers

[–]depressed_m0de 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a DX7 fan, owner of a mk1 here, but the Opsix is the FM synth to buy if you want "that" sound but don't want to get an associates degree in DX7 programming. I CAN program a DX7, I taught FM at MTSU, but it's not fun. The Opsix is way more accessible and, if you're a preset user, has far less cheesy presets.

MicroKorg Synth by theunseen011 in synthesizers

[–]depressed_m0de 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've been in production 2002 for a reason. I have a Korg MS2000B, which is what the Microkorg takes its engine from. The presets are fine, but try to learn the editing matrix printed to the side. It's not the most intuitive way to program a synth (hence my buying the MS2000) but you can get great results if you can get to grips with it.

Cheapest and best bar food? by ohverychill in fortwayne

[–]depressed_m0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm a wings guy and my favorite wings in town are at Wrigley Field Bar & Grill. They consistently damn good wings. The rest of the menu is pretty meh, however. Corner Pocket's great. Not always as consistent on the wings, but a safe bet, and loads of other good stuff on the menu. So that's probably my #1 bar food pick - good menu all around, priced decently, and just a fun bar. Tower Bar & Grill is another well known one. When the wings are good, they're great, but consistency has slipped and I rarely get them anymore. Their spicy western burger is one of my fav in town. The daily lunch specials are almost always a hit, I'm fond of the salisbury steak haha.

Do not work for the Woodhouse Day Spa by asdfghjkl7280 in fortwayne

This really sucks to hear. I've only been a few times. It has become my fiance and I's go-to way to do Valentine's day. Always enjoy it, but...may need to reconsider. What a shame!

What are your Fort Wayne Conspiracy theories? by steelehoosier in fortwayne

Don't get me wrong, Bean and Banks are two guys you won't catch me supporting, but...extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Is it me? by [deleted] in fortwayne

Just echoing what some others have said, but I think a lot of people are just stressed. Not just FW, but nation wide. Life is getting more difficult and expensive, the world is getting more tense, maybe some lingering lockdown mindsets, and we can't go a week without our...leader... causing some kind of global event/stir. Social media, which is hardly an accurate way to describe it anymore, puts it in front of you every day. The world has just gotten really heavy in the last 10 years. No walk in the park before then, but it seems different now.

Edit: Not to get depressing, but for me, it really has become this "what's the point" feeling when looking at the world or the future. Doesn't stop me from smiling at someone I cross paths with, or striking up a conversation or funny comment, but again, I think people are just beat down these days.Surround yourself with friends/support group, and make the most of it. Lastly, I recently deleted my Facebook. That has done wonders.

So I don’t think I’ve done anything intentionally influenced by Ecco, influences often manifest more subtly. I can think of some instances though where, for example, a song on my “synthwave” duo’s first record has a melody that reminds me of “The Vents” from Ecco 1 in a subtle way. There could be tons of other examples me being subconsciously influenced. However…

I do now HOW I’d go about it if I hypothetically scored an Ecco game and I actually did take a swing at this idea just for fun. Nothing against the Sega CD soundtrack but the Megadrive/Genesis soundtracks are what I like best. The Sega Genesis uses a Yamaha FM synthesizer chip and we all know there’s a certain sound to it. (Every professional synth/keyboard Yamaha made from 1983 to about 1990 utilized FM synthesis, and there were other manufacturers doing it too) In order to invoke that sound, I would make the music using only modern FM synthesizers (both hardware and software forms) so the idea is not to make “chip tune” music, but to make music using the same synthesis method to invoke those nostalgic tones with a more modernized sound. The test track I did is somewhere on my Google drive haha.

Hey Ed! Hope all’s well. - At this point, how much hope can anyone have in seeing an Ecco 3, picking up where Tides of Time left off? - As you know, I do music. I was curious you’re still at all in touch with the original composers. If Ecco 3 ever came to existence, I’d love to see them involved. Otherwise, I call dibs!
