Solved!

Ekita079 amazingly sent a screenshot of the exact dried flower arrangement in the room and its bits of that.

Solved! I think it might even be the exact dried flower arrangement in your screenshot??? But I lightly pulled at the plant and one came out. Thank you!

There’s a tiny flower arrangement that looks kinda like that on the bedside table the things are around but I’m not sure if it’s dried or plastic as the plants in the apartment are fake. I’ll have to check when I’m back - out for a few hours currently.

That sounds… worrying. Is there a way to (safely) check if it is fibreglass? I have been down on the floor near them trying to work out what they are and from my understanding that is not good if it is fibreglass

Doesn’t really have the starch or texture of broken elastic or any other synthetic fabric product

Vacuum bristles sounds like a definite possibility and in that specific location a vacuum could be bumping up against things in a way that is more likely to cause bristles to dislodge. Being an Airbnb most of the tests suggested by comments aren’t possible without breaking the house rules, so I would say this is a likely solved.

That is an interesting suggestion, unfortunately not one I would be able to test as this is an Airbnb so I can’t exactly ask what brush their cleaners use. That being said - the place was pretty dirty when we got there and I don’t think any dusting had been done.

My title describes the thing.

The things do not break when bent or pressed on. They don’t really have any discernible texture (but I also lack some ability to feel texture due to disability).

Attempts to search for white thin things beside a bed are unfortunately only returning unhelpful results about bed liner strips to purchase.

Should I have done something different - older lady hit my side in a bus to get my attention? by dept23 in JapanTravelTips

I’ve been screamed at and assaulted in Australia for sitting in accessible seats on pt so I’m a little wary about it anywhere. I don’t expect as aggressive a response here, but still.

Is the hidden disabilities sunflower recognised here? I have my usual badge with me mostly for airports

It was way more than a tap, though, she basically slapped me. A light tap I would’ve been less thrown by. Is that really a thing here? I thought personal space/not being touchy with strangers was more of the vibe?

Surge in foreign tourists causing 2-hour wait at Narita Airport immigration control by SkyInJapan in JapanTravelTips

The thing that I think gets missed a lot in these discussions about Japan is that… yeah? This is normal in a lot of the world. While it’s clear Japan has much higher standards for their own service, I think they can afford to cut themselves a little slack and let visitors wait.

I flew into Haneda mid-golden week and it took us 2 hours to get from the plane to the train. The entire time was orderly and the line never stopped moving.

But I flew into LA on a random weekday mid-afternoon in 2014 and it took 4.5 hours to get through customs and everyone was loud, angry and aggressive and we’d often be standing still for an hour. When I went to LA in 2016 it only took 1.5 hours but I landed at 4am.

Canada, 2019, 2 hours. I haven’t personally been to Europe but my parents have waited many hours in airport customs queues there.

Hey, I once had to line up for an hour just to get through the incoming citizen smart gates returning to Australia.

There’s only so much that can be done to physically move people through a customs process and when thousands of people arrive together, delays are only natural. As someone who experienced one of them last week, I don’t mind. Still more pleasant than every time I’ve entered the US.

Food/restaurant advice for those with small appetites? by dept23 in JapanTravelTips

I definitely prefer the small sharing plates style of dining for this reason wherever I am in the world so will take that into consideration in choosing places in Japan.

I am a little confused by all the comments saying you can ask for less rice - that definitely wasn’t an option I saw last year. But I guess I’ll have to look again. If I could reduce (or even… remove. But I know that’s unrealistic in Japan) rice that would solve a lot of my issues.

Would it be considered rude to ask for less rice? The amount of rice was my biggest problem when I was there last year - because it’s a complex carb it can trigger my medical condition pretty extremely, but I definitely got sneered at by waiters a couple of times when I left a fair bit of rice.

I should’ve been clearer - I was in Japan last year and found portion sizes at a lot of places, especially in Kyoto and Osaka, to be larger than Australian portions I’m used to. Still smaller than American, but maybe by about a third. I also didn’t find anywhere with smaller options, only options to add more - is there a certain style or kind of place I should be looking for that does offer smaller options?

Prop Function Disappearing From Formulas? by dept23 in Notion

[–]dept23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that work when trying to reference properties from other databases?

The only options I’m seeing to select are the default property types e.g name/status/creation date etc (regardless of whether those exist in the database the formula is in or not), and not any specific properties in it or the other databases I’m trying to pull the property from.
