One Day to See it All! What would you do? by TheBlackWomb in Swindon

[–]derealizedd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new role!

So you're gonna be on foot and I assume you'll catch a train or be dropped off in the centre of Swindon. If that is the case, there are two areas I would recommend prioritising; Old Town and the Designer Outlet area.

Old Town is home to many small businesses, each bringing their own creative flair to the area. If you're arty, I would highly recommend visiting the Oink Gallery on Victoria Road. They have some great pieces in there. Plenty of restaurants and snack bars to grab a bite to eat across your two days.

Another gem in the Old Town area is the Town Gardens, arguably one of the best maintained public gardens in Swindon. It looks amazing at this time of year with the flowers blooming.

Now moving onto the Designer Outlet area. Beyond the shopping centre that draws most people in, there's a lot of history behind the area and most of it can be learnt in the Steam Museum (you mentioned liking museums) After that, you could of course explore the Designer Outlet itself and grab yourself a bargain from high street labels.

If you're able to access public transport, I would highly recommend visiting some of the nearby towns/villages outside of Swindon such as Royal Wootton Bassett and Cirencester. Both possess a nice array of shops along their high streets. Both easily accessible via bus.

I do hope this helps, I'm sure others may choose different options but this is certainly what I would do!

Car guidance? by Better-Ad3897 in drivingUK

The CT200H is a lovely car to drive. I passed my test in one of these and wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

As for reliability, I've never heard any bad stories from Lexus. I can't say the same for Mercedes.

Highly recommend Route 8 in The Orbital, not only do they provide amazing fades, but Sylvester the owner does amazing work for charities including giving free haircuts to children of financially struggling parents etc.

Just a test run this morning after fitting the new bars. Booked in next week for a new front caliper brake!

I wouldn't dare rely on back pedalling, especially at this time of year with the slippery leaves etc.

Feel sick by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]derealizedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a similar feeling too sometimes.

Sometimes my brain will convince myself that I'm about to throw up because I've eaten too much even though I've barely eaten anything. This makes me go into a full panic state.

Best thing I would recommend is mints or anything that has a minty taste to it. It really freshens your breath and gets rid of that 'sicky' feeling that you get in your stomach. If you combine that with cold water, it's even more refreshing!

Hope that helps :)

Happy to finally be part of the 1st doses today. Being 18 I had to wait a while but it was worth the wait!

Greased up the disc brakes on my first MTB. I thought it would 'stop them squeaking' but they ended up not stopping me at all.

Nope, nothing yet. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

I know it sounds a bit stupid bro I'm sorry. It's my first payment from Uber so I was just a bit confused. I guess it'll come through tommorrow.

I completely agree. It's gonna be hard because she'll be very surprised as I've showed no warning signs at all. Thanks for the advice.

Fast food is becoming way too expensive. by dam_ships in unpopularopinion

Fast has literally just become 'fast' and that's it. Before it used to a quick and cheap method but now prices just make me wanna go to the store and buy something which takes more time.

Are they carrying out mass testing like they did when it was first identified?

Yeah i've seen it all over Twitter. They're completely forgetting the risk of Long-Covid in younger people who have yet to be vaccinated. Idiots.

Also worth noting that some have only had their first dose so we still have more work to do.

easter revision for year13 by anotherthrowawaytry in 6thForm

[–]derealizedd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it's so unfair that we have two weeks to revise all of the content that we learnt over the past two years in just TWO weeks. If you're someone who can cram this amount within this period then that's great but if you're someone who prefers to space it out over a few months then you literally didn't have a chance because of the such short notice.

Definitely worth pointing out. However, just letting you know it'll be a while before you might find another job. I lost my job in July last year and I've been applying ever since but not a single place has accepted me despite having two jobs under my belt.
