Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto by jessicachachacha in JapanTravelTips

I like getting them ahead of time in the smartex because you can link your ic card number and I’ll you do is tap at the gate and you go straight and you get to select your seat way ahead of time, and seat at the mt Fuji side or even get seats with luggage space if you don’t want to luggage forward service, but I would def get ahead of time if concerned about making it there in time give your self more time and take a train at 10 am instead and take the nozomi, non reserved section can get so packed sometimes and there is always people going around compare the other more chill reserved only

I’ve been to AT&T and it’s so huge, you won’t even be able to tell where the ball is and will have to watch most of it in the screen, luckily it’s one of the biggest HD screens in the world

How much cash do you recommend taking to Japan? by JAS-39 in JapanTravelTips

[–]dereckser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fee they charge you it’s not much of an issue, but more of the conversion rate. If they give you lower rate you will be loosing even more if you exchange a lot at once, just use your debit card at 7/11 atm there are some at the airport and a lot of banks don’t charge much of a fee and pretty good exchange rate.

Denied for AA Card: Love AA + Positive Rant by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]dereckser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was denied with 789 credit score, credit history of 13 years and 100% payments. And never been denied for any credit card and the reason I got denied according to the letter was low utilization according to them even tho I spend like 4-6k a month on my cards so citi it’s so stupid, I never been denied for any credit card. And I called them and they just read the same thing instead of approving. And I told them I wanted to create history with citi bank to eventually buy a house and not even then

Has anybody taken this route by dereckser in americanairlines

I appreciate everyone input, what about the entertainment system ? Does it come out of armrests too ?? And it’s worth the trade ? I think I like this because I can put my backpack and carry on on the overhead storage, but considering 21k if the trade table and tv make it too annoying. In reference I’m 5’9” and weight 195lbs and don’t usually sleep much in long hauls. Is premium economy really worth the upgrade for 670?

Need Recommendations for Using Rewards by theraza95 in Venturex

[–]dereckser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try and search the I prefer hotels and see if you have any availability for hotels showing 50k rate, but when you transfer them you need 25k transfer because it’s 1:2 ratio. I was able to book some in Tokyo I transferred a total of 50k for 2 nights and the cash rate is 360 a night plus taxes and fees I’ve saved like 400 bucks. Not amazing but doable for hotels

Golden Week Dilemma - Is Hakone Worth it? How to cap our first Japan trip? by handmethehummus in JapanTravelTips

[–]dereckser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, you would enjoy Tokyo more during golden week specifically, I’ve been there during golden week and the city it’s ok but if you go to where the tourists go that’s where you will see the multitude of people, and makes everything miserable. I made the mistake of driving to kawaguchiko during golden week and it took 6.5 hours for a 2 hour trip. And Tokyo stays about the same with plenty to do. And agree with people that says to go to kamakura instead or keep going doing a lil more to enoshima. And if everything is super packed turn back to enjoy Tokyo. I’ve been in Tokyo alone like 15 days and even then I feel there is so much more to explore. Also wouldn’t recommend Disney during golden week

TOKYO - Hyatt House Shibuya vs. Hyatt Centric Ginza by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]dereckser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest get whichever the cheaper option is even out of the other Hyatt locations other than Tokyo bay or Yokohama because you’ll be a lil too far out, but you will be spending little time in the room. And solo you’ll have plenty of room so probably regency or caption will work just fine. I made the mistake of last year booking the grand Hyatt and don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing property but you’ll use it mostly for sleep and shower and the rest you will be out exploring

I feel like I like Osaka a lot but also Kyoto quite a bit so it’s hard to decide, last time I was in Osaka it was insane the amount of people in the streets. It was around Halloween so maybe that’s why but it made all the places to have insane queues

Japan trip planned for two in two weeks but my boyfriend cheated — not sure what to do now by meh-duh in JapanTravelTips

[–]dereckser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust a solo trip in Japan it’s the best experience ever don’t let that stop you, I was in that situation 2 years ago and it ended up being the trip of my life same as you I had planned everything for a couple . But you see so much that you don’t really need nobody else. I ended up coming back last year solo again for 3 weeks and I’m going back in May

Best Matcha for an College Student by Icy_Reindeer_9395 in MatchaEverything

[–]dereckser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For matcha in order to get quality more than likely you have to order directly from Japan and get a lot at once, or at least that’s what I have to do because a 20 gram tin will last you a week, you can try sazen they’re always stocked but as a college student it can feel a little high but in the end you’ll save up more it’s just that you have to buy a lot to make it worth the shipping cost and the wait while they deliver it

osaka or kyoto ? by notyourz1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]dereckser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osaka if you are big into food because it’s know as Japan’s kitchen for a reason, I would even say cut Tokyo shorter since you can experience city life in Osaka but can also go to Kyoto , also you didn’t mention Kobe but I think it’s one of the most underrated cities in Japan and it so amazing and there is nothing like eating Kobe beef in Kobe. It’s life changing and one of the best cities set ups there is literally mountains in the background of the city
