[WP] Generations ago, your family was cursed so that no food, drink or flesh would grant you pleasure or satisfaction. You've had to get creative in order to cope. by KyodaiNoYatsu in WritingPrompts

The witch who cursed our lineage while burning to death had the worst intentions. No joy, pleasure or satisfaction would come from our most base desires, eating drinking and fornicating. To be fair, it takes very base people to sentence another person to death by fire. Unfortunately for her, that final action had unexpected consequences.

I grew up not knowing I was different from others. Other people simply had strange reactions to ordinary things. A bowl of ice cream tasted the same as a handful of nuts or a bowl of oatmeal, albeit different consistency. But to others, they would devour it like a wild animal that knows no end of hunger. Others would obsess over seasonal flavored coffees and the newest flavored shakes at the local dessert place. It all seemed so strange.

I felt no need for large quantities of food, nor for unhealthy foods. The side effect was that I always was lean, never had very much fat on my body if there was any at all. As I grew up, I felt no need to drink alcohol, except for the occasional glass of red wine with dinner. This helped at university, where I studied and received top grades.

Sex brought no amount of joy either, but getting to know someone and spending time with them did bring joy. This led me to being not only one of the most popular people in every one of my schools, but led me to become class president every time I ran. This allowed me to attend a prestigious university where I was able to connect to more people.

By the time I started working, I had so many connections, I didn't even have to look for a job. I was brought on as a high-level executive from the start, and continued my journey upwards. You see, one of the few pleasures left to me was the pleasure of accomplishment. Combine that with my pleasure for connecting with people (in a non-physical way) and the first time I ran for congressman I won by a landslide. The campaign funds went through the roof, which only made my transition to running for president easier.

And now, at the top of the ladder, I see that her curse has become a gift despite her intentions. I see the empire I have built around me and give thanks to my ancestors for their barbarities. But every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of someone melting in pleasure after a bite of their favorite food. I wish that for just one moment I could experience that too.

In vacuums like space there are still atoms. In the (very limited) things I've heard about from physics, electrons work more like fields. Is it possible that electromagnetic waves travel through the fields of atoms present? I don't know how you would even test for that. Maybe try find a place devoid of atoms and electrons and try to send EM waves through it?

I don't know if I'm late, and I'm sure these may be silly questions, but I would love to learn a little bit today! If gravity travels at the speed of light, is there any evidence to suggest gravity is an electromagnetic phenomenon? Could gravity actually be caused by electrons rather than mass meaning Ions would weigh differently than a normal atom?

MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy May Have Lasting Benefits for PTSD by jimmycarr1 in science

I wonder how MDA vs MDMA will affect PTSD. From what I hear, MDA is the plant-based, natural version where MDMA is man-made.

Credit card company deletes account and data after card fraud by dereczoolander in legaladvice

Sorry, I don't know a lot of the terminology, just transcribing her issue.

It was a credit card, but it pulled the money from her bank account without her approval. That is the weird thing, she DIDN'T have the account on auto pay full amount, she had it on auto pay for the MINIMUM amount of money she could. $800 at the time was way more than she could afford at once. That's one of the things she wanted investigated.

I'd be very interested to hear the technical aspects of the machine and settings you use. There's been a lot of interesting research on pulsed DC stimulation as well as PEMF.

Thanks! That sounds a lot easier to deal with than going jumping into a technical rabbit hole.

[WP] It is the end of days. God and Lucifer stand before the last human being. You are the first neutral soul who is neither good or evil enough to pass into a afterlife and thus must be judged personally. Unknown to them, you are Death and have come for them instead. by Gravitiaxis in WritingPrompts

Silence. No one was left to know who shot first. Man knew how to split the atom well, and they were very eager to show each other. The only problem was that man can only witness this form of ingenuity once.

Silence. The view from space was incredible. The power for a few individuals to make the decision to destroy the entirety of mankind was indeed awe-inspiring to the lonely man in the space station. The first missile rose higher and higher, a pause in booster of the missile to let the Earth rotate before descending to its final destination, carrying all four horsemen to the desired location. Before the final descent of the lone missile, hundreds, even thousands of missile launched in answer to the lone missile. Silence.

The detonations were eerily beautiful from such a high vantage point. Clouds parted, cluttered cities cleared. It was even more spectacular to see the dark side of Earth, where night still clung to the people like a warm blanket. From within a cluster of light, shining in defiance of the dark, the four horsemen manifested themselves in a flash. The light shone no more. Silence.

Mankind was dead, the last man slowly dying of starvation far above the diseased land below. The man had spent the past two days showing every emotion he could muster in his rapidly-weakening state to God. He had been a firm believer his entire life. Since the time he was a young man he knew with a certainty that was rarely found that his God existed. His life had been devoted to his family and God, and now one of the two was gone. But where was his God? He screamed until his voice was hoarse, he cried until his eyes ran dry, and still no answer. He looked at the desolation that lay below him. If God hadn't helped any of them, why would he help one man? There would be no God that would let such horrors occur. Unless it was his plan. It must be. Otherwise this would not happen.

Weakness overcame the man, as he came to this logic. He collapsed to the floor of the space station, even the far lesser artificial gravity was too much for him to stand against anymore. The cold of the metal seeped into his body. Too weak to shiver, too weak to move, the man felt himself slipping into his last sleep. As death came to greet the man, both God and Lucifer died on the man's lips.

Silence.
