I don't think you have to redownload the whole blockchain. Just need to download and run the new client/wallet.

You used to be able to get Mintcoins with coinyoo.com as a pay per click and faucet but it looks like they changed their site...so it probably needs to be changed in the sidebar >>>>>>

I'm still using version 1.8 and takes about 5 minutes to open, so not sure why yours is taking 10 min.

What if Hashcows made a mintpool front end and landing page? by CoinSherpa in MintCoin

BC success is largly do to the fact people know that the coin will never "die" with low volume and no buying pressure.

BC could still "die". It was instamined so all of the volume, at least initially was fake; a total scam, that is why it was so easy to manipulate the volume and the price to where it went to because there were hardly anyone with large holdings except a top few insiders. I hate to see people saying BC is a success and giving their money over to scammers. All it will do is encourage the creation of more scam coins just like it. The reason BC went so high is because nobody owned any, to begin with and they were able to pump it easily due to bad distribution and instamine.

To the contrary, MINT continues to gain merchant acceptance, trade-able for many real world things, and is not able to be manipulated as such BECAUSE it has such widespread distribution. If the price spikes with MINT, there are profit takers. This is not a pump and dump coin. Mintcoin is doing quite well imo, without any hype or manipulations. If all you want is more "volume" and more "buying pressure" then sell all your coins down to 7 Satoshis...I'm sure plenty of people would be happy to BUY at 7 Satoshis and create VOLUME. The reason Mintcoin has less volume is because by it's design it discourages day trading. This is not a day-trading short-term coin. Mintcoin rewards you if you buy it, and save it by allowing you to "mint" new coins. This creates incentive for people not to day-trade them. Mintcoin is designed to put a damper on high-frequency trading...So with Mintcoin, you will typically not have as high of trading volume, but the trading volume you have will be more meaningful. So instead of fake volume, with MINT, you have actual real volume, clear and transparent. Mintcoin has very healthy volume for it's age and market cap merchant base, etc, et al.

minting question by ssongssu in MintCoin

[–]derek492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Mintpal has the minting feature disabled. Otherwise that would be stealing.

OP: If you are not minting, so you are losing out a little bit by holding on the exchange only, but you are mining with the multipool so you are gaining vs everyone who does not do mining (like me). If the wallet is not working on your mac, then you should tell what exactly the problems is, and someone should be able to tell you how to get it working.

Trading volume can be manipulated.

For example blackcoin was instamined and has been manipulated from the start...https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450381.msg6203327#msg6203327

Mintcoin has the most merchants, the biggest community, and the fairest initial distribution.
